Final Fantasy games

FFVII is the only one I managed to finish, haven't played it for a long while though. I seem to remember there being an ingame timer of 99 hours then it stopped. Mine was on 99 for weeks before I finally managed to complete it (not 100% of course, if anyone ever did?) I used to love leveling up, try and find somewhere that would give decent exp points and spend a few hours a night grinding away.

the timer on ff8 went red after 99 hours i think and counted as zero again, or something :p which was a nice addition. 7 was the best, infact im replaying it now. damn i love this game. i'm up to the part just getting past the chocco farm, and avoiding the midgar zolom :p

I'm just about to parachute onto midgar to stop mojo :D

damn i loved that part of the game. with the proud clod battle. that was awesome. i loved revisiting the place i hated being in so much at the start of the game. kinda wierd :p and the fact i got to use bahamut zero on hojo. damn i hate that guy. he seemed okay in crisis core though..even if he came across a bit loopy.

the fact i got to use bahamut zero on hojo

I've got omnislash fully charged with the ultima sword ready to unleash on him, currently keeping death blow on cloud so i can use that in order to save my limit break just for that occasion :D

Got knights of the round ready for the proud clod... i know this game far too well, i didn't even use a guide to obtain everything :(

what :eek: you've got all that already?! i wouldn't have the patience.. i complete the main story and hang about on third disk levelling up for the weapon fights. :p i never have all the limits and materia at that stage. did you pick up w-item for the double item trick ? ( i probably shouldn't even ask lol)

No, i've never used that cheat before tbh, wouldn't even know how to do it (though i know of it). I was just a sad git who did a bit of grinding between each storyline segment thus allowing me to be mega hardcore. I whooped ultima weapon as early as physically possible (after cloud wakes up iirc) and constantly checked on my chocobos so i could breed them asap.

I even managed to get Aeris' ultimate limit break before she died, hadn't even seen it before, it was awesome :D

Yes i'm a geek.

[EDIT] Oh and getting omnislash is actually very easy, it's getting the GP needed to enter enough fights in one sitting that is time consuming. All you need is cloud with a ribbon, loads of health, haste and slash-all, makes mince meat out of em.

lol..i only used it to get loads of elixir's to feed to magic pots. if you go to a certain part of the crater on the third disk, you can fight loads of magic pots and these rubber orange balls. one gives loads of EXP and one gives loads of AP. easy levelling.

I couldn't agree more about the prelude, and have posted similar threads on other forums. As for the daddy, FF6 > *

7 was great, but way too angsty.

Ah aye, i remember the bit, the sort of underground lake/garden thing, that bit was surreal considering how the rest of the crater was.

I've got 50 odd elixirs from chocobo racing, getting your chocobos to S rank improves the odds of getting a gold chocobo so i've essentially done at least 12 races with each one. Lots of GP + goodies.

Sorry i've taken this thread completely off topic.

yeh thats the bit. the save point you can carry about in your item list near the end, put it at that point and you can save it in there just in case you die. as its a hassle to get in and out of the crater. chocobo races are a bit tedious, but S class is needed to make the gold i believe ?

They are indeed, however when i was a nipper i accidentally discovered a cheat (honestly i did actually discover it myself, i didn't read a guide, i've NEVER read a guide for this game i've just played it to death so know nearly everything), if you hold all of the L and R buttons your stamina regenerates, with a half decent chocobo you can just sprint most of the way with stamina regen so makes things a lot quicker.

S class isn't needed, but when breeding the higher the class the higher the likelihood of getting a 'special' chocobo so you don't have to spend as much time quitting and reloading.

aye, i remember my friend finding that out too, well before the internet became the normal for us commoners, and the magazine's hadn't quite caught up with new games back in 1997 :p

I lost an entire Winter of my life to Chocobo breeding......and I loved every second of it :D

7>6>9>10>8>4>12>5>3>2>1

That's my order of preference that I spent the last 10 seconds thinking of.

FF7 really did teach you a lot about animal husbandry. It was pretty crazy. It's a shame they didn't have that breeding system in later games. It would have been especially nice to see a refined system of it as well. See a nice area but can't reach it? Devote your time to breeding chocobos that could go to areas where no other means could, and get great treasures for it!

I thought 9 was great too :) I know it's second last on my list but they're all very close in rankings imo.
