2008 Italian GP - Race 14/18

Nothing wrong with that.

If you are the best, then you must believe you are the best and that you have the right to bully people on/off the track.

Senna used to do this and we know that MS used to do this, to such a point that he won World Drivers titles as a result. And now Hamilton is doing it. Webber will think twice next time, when he comes across Hamilton on the track.

If you are the best driver in F1, you have every right to expect lesser drivers (such as Webber), to move over.

haha well said, a lot of people are trying to turn f1 into a non contact sport where overtaking is deemed an illegal manoeuvre. hamilton is just like an old school driver

Why do people keep calling them Minardi, the only thing which is the same are some of the staff members.

how many times did James Allan say "Minardi DNS' over the weekend? I was ready to throw things at my TV if he said it much more.

Great win for Vettel. Not so great he's in the slower Red Bull next year :( Any chance they might swap engines or both get to use Ferrari

& can the technical changes next year bring that element of excitement rain brings!

Times hoping for too much :D

(I thought Id post the pic cause its funneh :P)

Well, wasn't that nice? New record holder for youngest ever winner, some decent on-track action, and a new team enters the winners circle. Hey sunama, going to say anything against that win, given your comments in the Belgium thread about the mid-pack teams getting podiums in '93? :p

Some thoughts:

1) I'm right. Vettel is one of the top six drivers in F1 right now.

JRS said:
Of the current crop, I'd say my top six are (in no real order):

Hamilton
Massa
Kubica
Raikkonen
Vettel
Alonso

From this post here.

That was a hugely impressive drive. Didn't put a wheel wrong all day, the team got the strategy call exactly right, and crucially - no-one else was fast enough over the balance of the race.
2) Time for McLaren to sack their weatherman? Strategy was not Hamilton's stronger point today.
3) Well, it was properly wet....and Massa didn't throw it off the road....and he beat Hamilton on the track....so now can we acknowledge that he isn't a bad driver? Please?
4) Can someone at the FIA take note that we've had two damned good races in a row now (off-track nonsense excepted), and they've come on tracks that are part of the grand old guard rather than TilkeDromes. Lets bring back a few more of those older tracks.
5) Bet Vettel is a tiny bit worried that he's moving from STR now!
6) Also....what am I bet that Red Bull and STR swap motors next year? :D

"I wasn't lucky today," Hamilton bemoaned.

I beg to differ since he was struggling in full wet trim. Only when it started to dry a little did he start pumping them in.
And like the last race he was asking for "divine intervention" of some sort to help him win a race... is that how he wants to win ? :(

Dont forget that during qualifying when it was chucking it down in Q2, Hamilton was about a second to two seconds a lap slower. During race trim he wasnt catching up with Raikonnen either when it was delluging it down.

Damn was on nights so slept through today. Looking forward to seeing this race now. As I said before it's a real shame that people like Vettel and Kubica are in such uncompetetive cars and teams, while the only two teams in F1 worth being in hire also rans as backup drivers.

F1 desperately needs two or three more teams to be up the front to showcase what some of these guys can actually do.

Really pleased for Vettel and the Torro Rosso team.

Surely your not suggesting hamilton isn't as great in the wet as people seem to think? ;)

Well what would you suggest? :)
He didnt exactly shine this race did he when it was full wet?

I personally think its that zone between REALLY wet and dry that he shines (i.e. the bit before going to Inters).

you dont barge people off or change line in the braking zone
he caused an avoidable accident so i expect it to be looked at like heikki in belgium

And last week he avoided an avoidable accident by cutting the chicane, but you want it each and every way and if the Ferraris dont perform you want the FIA to step in..

did u not watch the race?

he was past raikkonen after about 4 laps, then passing people almost every lap or 2 and was faster than nearly everyone on the track.

in qualifying did he not have a problem with his brakes which caused him to be slow.

tbh he made the race exciting, it was good for vettel to win but he was just sat at the front going round, not that exciting.
