Time to call it day ? PC gaming !

Oh good grief.

Point 1.

Everyone should know by now that SLI / X-Fire does not provide the performance gains that are theoretically possible i.e True X2 performance. For some games it makes little to no difference and you might as well have a single card. Two cards can also cause issues for reasons I wont pretend to understand, such as slow downs and stuttering, both of which I have experienced before and rectified by using a different combination of hardware / drivers. It's always been a bit hit and miss for me (not gospel truth, I know).

Point 2.

Your system should run pretty much everything you throw at it, even at stupidly high settings / resolutions. Exceptions to this include Crysis (obviously) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky. I won’t go into Crysis because it’s been talked / moaned to death. Clear Sky, however, in its current state is proving very unstable for a lot of people. The problems you have described have been mentioned by other gamers and are not strictly exclusive to your specification. I know a few patches have already been released and they have improved performance / stability for SOME people, not everyone. I think it’ll be a while before Clear Sky becomes the game it should have been out of the box. Be patient.

Point 3.

To call it a day because a few games are causing you grief is madness. I understand how frustrated you must feel but this is part of the PC gaming experience. A lot of people are fortunate enough to build systems and have no issues, or issues that are easily solved. Some issues are caused by hardware configurations, some by the game itself or, even worse, a combination of both which can prove very time consuming to sort out. You either have what it takes to stick with it, get to the bottom of your problems and troubleshoot it out, or indeed move on to a gaming platform that will provide you with a much more stable and less problematic gaming experience.

Look, the guy was just frustrated due to having problems and simply made an over the top thread title due to said frustrations.

Also, his problems are not simply crossfire scaling issues, and you would know this if you had read the thread.

I thought I made it clear that I was making three points, which I felt were important and certainly not the only points worth making / considering. I never said his problems were exclusively "crossfire scaling issues" and I did read the thread carefully. I simply wanted to relate my own experiences to the topic at hand. And yes, I know he is frustrated and I believe I mentioned this fact in Point 3 of my post.

To be honest, your reply contributed nothing to this thread and serves no purpose other than to prove that you yourself should read threads more carefully, so take some of your own advice :)

Ok, fair enough, I may not have read very closely and made myself out to be a hypocrit (sp?), and so I apologise.

As to your 2nd paragraph, I made have contributed a lot more to trying to help this guy out than anyone else in this thread, so **** *** :)

Try and get that sorted before splashing out for a new games console. It definately isn't the game. Must be something up with the hardware, get it checked out!

first mistake was wasting time and money on crossfire, been better of getting a powerful single card and the second mistake is wasting time with STALKER

*waves* ok bye have fun :p

Seriously, all those tears with people saying how much stuff costs.

You don't need the best stuff, 4GB of ram, a motherboard, an 8800 GT or 4850, a Q6600 or E7200 (or whatever) will do fine.

You don't need 4GB of ram or quadcore either. 2GB, Windows XP, and a cheap dualcore (overclocked) runs most stuff fine.

I know... that is basically my system I mentioned. You could easily go with something less.

Someone I know is gaming *very* happily on an E2160, (clocked to 3GHZ) 2GB of cheap ram, cheap motherboard, and my old 8800 GTS 320MB. Everything he plays, COD, WOW, and whatever else runs perfectly for him.

SLI/Crossfire is still not that great which is a bit dissappointing given that it is quite a mature technology now.
But don't right off PC gaming, there are some brilliant titles coming out in the next few months.

spec wise which is the one to get ps3 xbox 360 i aint bothered about blu ray just best spec, must support 1080p due to my screen size.

also are any new consoles due soon.

GTA 3 runs under 30 fps on the PS3, sometimes it goes down to the teens. The consoles are just as bad these days.

running games at max settings, makes me feel ill. something not right about it, i prefer my games to look like games then something that is trying to look like real life. :P

Im currently being forced to run warhammer with all special effects turned off and 1024 768 res. I'd rather be sick with all settings turned on.
