Ordered the 32GB one over the weekend. Arrived today.

I used a camera phone to take the pictures and resized them in Preview, so not great quality.

Should I just leave it charging over the USB before I set it up and use it?

Looks noice :)

Had a go on one in the Apple Store the other day. Pretty damn thin!

Will be fine to use straight away.

Can you correct my thread title to say "iPod" please.

Gonna fire it up in a sec. Finally all that high quality Album Art I downloaded will come in more useful now (My other ipod is a 2g Nano).

OK, bad start.

Itunes says there is an update 2.1.1 (unit had 2.1 on it). I downloaded it, it extracted, then I got an error in iTunes (cannot update error 63?). iPod no longer seen by iTunes. Replugged in and now iTunes says it has detected it in recovery mode!! Doing a Restore & Update now :(

Hmm, wonder what this 2.1.1 lark is. The touch is a quality device mate, you'll love it. Of course if you're an audio tart then the sound quality won't be as good as you hope. Functionality wise its a top bit of kit though. I still use my 16GB Touch alongside my 8GB iPhone 3G.

2.1.1!?

That's not even out yet..
Restore and Update fixed it.

Crap screenshot, I know. OS X doesn't have something simple like Paint to blur/erase/edit basic images so I have to upload to splashup.com and edit online :(

Just checked my touch on iTunes and it states that 2.1 is the most upto date version. I'm guessing that 2.1.1 is for the new 2G models...

I have some questions:

1) Can I somehow copy/sync with my MBP's Safari bookmarks?
2) Can I remove some of the default items on the front screen, totally? (I see I can move them to page 2).

1) Yeah, in iTunes, click on iPod under Devices. Click the Info tab and tick the box to sync bookmarks with Safari.

2) Nope, only as you said.

2. Not unless you jailbreak the touch and use BossTools to remove the icons.

Doesn't bother me that much, (yet!).

So far loaded Remote, Google app, Tap Tap Revenge, Tube Status and some WorldWiki app. (All free).

Sadly at least 50% of my youtube favourites are not compatible atm :(. Will convert some of my own videos to try on it later.

Edit: Also I created a webclip on homescreen for Google Mail. Anyway to give it a funky icon as opposed to the hard to see snapshot of my gmail inbox?
