Aliens

If you look at our solar system...Take the distance of us from the sun, and the two nearest planets to us distances from the sun; ie mars and Venus, these two don't have any life, merely atm because of the distance from the sun due to too much heat or not enough of it.

Now take another solar system....They would need a sun equal to ours, plus planets around~ the same distance from the sun as ours...To even think about before having life forms equivalent to how ours started.

Granted you could have a smaller scaled sun with less heat, but the planets being closer and visa versa for a bigger sun but the solar system being larger etc...Then you mat have life as how we know it.

But then put into the facter that maybe how we have lived isn't the only way, and that we just haven't adapted to being able to live in such hostile enviroments such as Venus and Mars.

How likely is it to find a solar system like ours? With a planet like ours...Pretty much in the ONLY position it can be in, the perfect position, not too far, and not too close.

That's what I find interesting, how indeed likely it is to have another planet the same as ours. Therefore having life.

You're assuming that there need to be the exact same conditions as on earth for life to evolve, which may not be true.

Scientists think there maybe be life under the ice of Titan, which is certainly subject to different conditions to earth. Just because in our very limited exploration of 8 other planets we haven't found life, however primitive (yet, it's still possible) is no reason to rule out the possibility.

I remember watching a 'do aliens exist' type of documentary. And someone on it said words to the effect of "Out of all the planets and stars there are, if only .001% had breathable atmosphere, and only .001% of those with breathable atmosphere had an environment that could sustain life, and if only .001% of those actually did have life, that would still leave like a gazillion planets/stars to pick from.
To me that makes for a very convincing argument that there simply has to be life elsewhere.
Also these muppet scientists that say its not possible that aliens have visited us because any planet outside of our solar system that had ife would never have the technology to get here :rolleyes:
How in the blue hell would they know???!!

I believe........that Scully should sleep with me! :D

I rather believe in aliens as they have better chance of existing then some people believe in religion and that world was created by someone called god.

yes i bet you there is some kind of life form not including us in the universe.

I'd hazard a guess that yes there is life other than us in the universe. The chance of life existing is miniscule but the universe is almost infinate so I like the odds.

I really don't think we'll meet them anytime soon though, even if they have faster than light interstellar travel finding us is probably like finding one particular grain of sand among all the worlds beaches.

yep, there are. here's one:

I agree, some people who believe in a religion scrutinise people who believe in other life forms, yet it is probably more likely that there is other life elsewhere than there is a God who you are meant to "fear" and "respect". I don't mean to offend anyone here who does believe in any kind of religion I'm just saying that its just as plausible believing that there is other life than there is reason to believe in a religion.

I found the "microbes on space junk" post interesting actually, I supposed its possible we could spread life that way

Considering there's hundreds of billions of galaxies each containing hundreds of billions of stars, also consider the building blocks for life can be found on Mars, asteroids, comets and probably other planets and moons in our solar system it would be insane to say where to only inhabited planet. I believe there's billions of inhabited planets each in different stages of evolution, from some with just microbes to others with civilisations billions of years ahead of us.

Do i believe there is other life in the universe? Probably
Do i believe there is other intelligent beings in the universe? Maybe
Do i believe aliens have visited earth? I love the idea, and i would love to say yes but my answer is a near certain no

Yes, I'm 99% sure there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

Have we been visited by said life? That's more of a long shot, although certainly not outside the realms of possibility. I would say yes, probably. There are a handful of UFO cases (over the past 50 years or so) that are compelling.

The vast distances involved are pretty irrelevant to me. We actually have a few solid theories on how we could travel through the stars, although they're a long way off being workable, obviously. But we know it's at least conceivable. And our radio waves have left our solar system now, so that would make finding us easier - a bit like a flashing beacon.

I would say the chances that we have been visited by aliens........51% :)

Life: Definitely
Complex life: Less likely but out there somewhere.

Basically I'm a supporter of the theory that we were very lucky to have the right celestial circumstances that allowed us to live and evolve.

There could be an advanced life form living with us. They are so much more advanced that they have invisability. They could be sitting next to you laughing :p

I don't think we have been visited, i think that will be too hard to "cover up". I would like to think there is something else out there, maybe we all have a twin or something.
