"Limited Run Copper TRUE

It has been found that well-known heatsink manufacturer Thermalright will be releasing a full copper version of their popular Ultra-120 Extreme high performance cooler. Weighing in at a rather monstrous 1.8 kilograms, this copper TRUE will be available next month in a limited quantity of 3000 units at a price of US$99.

Considering the higher heat conductivity properties of copper over aluminum, this should increase the TRUE's already impressive cooling capability. The main concern here is the weight. At 1.8kg, this all copper version is the heaviest heatsink seen to date, with a weight more than double that of the original. This could easily cause excessive stress on the motherboard and possible damage. In addition to this, the price is high enough to approach TEC coolers (such as the Titan Amanda) and entry-level water cooling.

Will this all copper TRUE be worth the cost and possible risk"

Wonder if OCUK will be stocking this?

Also wonder how much better it would be than the normal TRUE...

i admit it does look good - but then it needs a big ugly fan strapped to it
i prefer the stock or black one

i cant see it offering that much of an improvement over the stock true

They all look good till they are installed, a few months on they are just another dust ridden component in your PC :)

With that amount of weight I think they'll have to supply some sort of sports bra to hold that thing securely in place.

lmao, 1.8Kg is just insane I had a Scythe Infinity which is almost 1Kg and found that scary, imagine this...

The question is - how much better ? if it's 5c better than it's already mine :>.
If not then im getting orochi ;-), bigger monster than this.

supported properly shouldnt be an issue weight wise.. I have 1.3kg of fan on my current true (although they are securly cable tied and tied to the case) but I wouldnt want to just clamp that onto my motherboard!

How much of a temp difference are people thinking there will be between this and the normal one?

Are you sure motherboards can actually cope with that much weight. :p
and with 2-3 degrees being the diffirence this definately isnt worth the £20ish more and the large amount of weight it would put in your system IMO.
