*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

I've never played a mporg, probably got that wrong and don't even know what it means lol, but I am getting bored with my gaming. Wondering whether to take the plunge but don't like the idea of a monthly fee. Should I try this or something like Medieval Total War? Both are making me curious.

you should pick war up :)
the monthly fees are well worth it imo.

server costs , bandwidth costs , dev team , customer support etc all cost money its not possible to do a quality mmo for free.

when you consider for £9 each month you get countless hours of gameplay with hundreds of other people in the same game is cheap really.

would you rather spend £30 quid on a regular game and get 15hours of gameplay at most?

there the types of games that are boring at times without friends though, find yourself a nice guild and its pure joy.
if you do get war hook up with the ocuk guild on whatever server there on.

An outside dungeon is slightly overstating it, these aren't difficult boses(so far), to be fair I've not done much beyond the first area but the PQ's are just so ridiculously easy, haven't found one you can't do with 6 people..... yet.

By the first area do you mean the T1 zone, or literally the first section of the T1 zone? Either way, such areas are akin to pre-barrens level-wise, or still being in the shire in LOTRO.

But they are just so, basic, the whole gameplay, up to where i am just seems so utterly basic and boring. Hopefully it should improve but up to now it just feels like spoonfed drivel with no story. Even the basic quest stories become irrelevant as say with a Lotro or WoW reading quest info for clues and searching for things becomes quite difficult, but the, so far, very small area's, nothing far in terms of time to get to quests and being told exactly where they all are. The problem is that difficulty finding stuff in other MMO's makes it feel like you're exploring/adventuring or whatever, it gives you something to do and makes you read the story and get more involved, Warhammer just feels utterly childish and dumbed down so far.

Point me out a few quests in the pre level 10 areas of LOTRO and WoW which give the complexity you allude to above and are missing from such beginning levels of WAR. Criticism is great, bit criticism through the use of things which don't exist in the same level range and zone range as the games you are critiquing to is just pointless.

Think server just went down, forgot the name of it tbh, but most of the "scenarios" aren't exactly exiciting and in general there seems to be a mahooosive destruction population with lots of much higher level characters and the order has nothing. I've been in maybe 15-20 of them and I think we've won twice. All that can even out, player numbers, character levels and so on, but after it all, not incredibly exciting gameplay and boring area's won't change.

Scenarios do exactly what it says on the tin. A quick fix measure of PvP. At your low level of course it won't be exciting because you don't have the utility of higher level chars.

The thing I guess I'm not liking most is lack of attacks, or options, theres really no different ways to attack, sword master, you're spoon fed an attack chain with no choice. Ranged with arrows, slow bow and 1 maybe 2 shots at range with no option to fire up close and a single close combat attack(thats one i just started though but it doesn't feel as fun as basically, hunters do in other mmo's). Pet's fairly damn useless for a game aimed towards RvR so liondude is out the window. War priest has can run in and pop heals before he gets in to have essentially a massive health bar, but the targeting, defence targeting , its very ackward to play in combat as you can't just heal if needs be, which isn't bad, ,you won't get shouted at for putting your hammer in, but shouldn't be so clumsily controlled and some utterly pointless attacks, a 1% aoe heal that does maybe 2% damage, why, just why?

Barring a burglar in LOTRO (and that class had 3 times the skill juggling of every other class in that game) I've yet to play a game which required as many skills as WAR to play a class well. For some reason you're judging an entire game by the newbie zones with chars having few skills. WoW, WAR, DAoC, AC2, AoC etc etc played thae same at such levels. WAR at least allows PvP from level 1 even if low skills make it pretty basic at that level.

theres a few things that bug me
1 going into the guild menu and not showint whos online straight away and not having to click players then whos online
2 everytime i go into a sceniroe or load into another area i have to set my camera distance again and the minimap distance as well
3 How much ram the game uses :(

I cant even play this morning.. as soon as I click the Play button after logging in, it sits at the Loading Nordland screen with the logo drawing in the corner..

Which imo will make the whole system useless. When the game is six months old you'll never be able to do them for lack of lowbie players. It is bad enough now on low population factions.

Well that is to be expected for any game, that's why all MMORPGs are more fun at launch :) And all the first stages of PQs are easily soloable, most of the 2nd stages can be done in a 5 man group, only the last stage is really hard - so you can easily get the influence you want anyway.

Can you not even log into your account on the website? How long it been like this for?

Well the website doesnt let you login atm anyway... I can login to the game, its when I select a character and click play and it loads from there.. normally take 15-20 seconds, but wont go past it now and enter the game

I've solo'd a few PQ's as a Black Orc chugging a few potions, good to be the only one on the pq roll list getting a blue item :D.

Just a quick question - can anyone get SLI working in this game? In the Nvidia control panel I have SLI mode set to 'Alternate Frame Rendering' in global settings. However, when I load up the game, the load balancing bars don't turn on (they do in every other game I have).

Thanks.

Do public quests create tome unlocks? haven't noticed before and there's some that nobody does:( it's stopping me from moving on.
does it matter if you don't complete every stage? is just getting max influence for the area all you need for your tome?

cheers
