GTX 260 or 4870?

Cheers guys :) Im really chuffed with this purchase thanks to "reflux" :)

Hopefully will receive the card on Tuesday to enjoy some Crysis Warhead goodness (along with my 24" OCUK panel - which was supposed to be delivered today! But didnt turn up :()

Couldn't care less if 9800GX2 is better, its two cards in one, suffers micro stutter and is priced higher than a 4870 and will be as attractive to buy as a salad to a fat man when the 4850x2 comes out.

Basically its a big fat old card Nvidia used to milk the fan boys with re badged old tech. If you know where to look, you could crossfire two 4870s for around £300 (£30 more than a GX2) and laugh till the cows come home.

Clearly it's to difficult a task for you being a HD4870 user to actually admit the 9800GX2 is the faster card in the vast majority of games.

Its not faster in all games as you previously stated.

I'm no longer using a 4870 so your point is moot and a tad sad as everyone knows I don't care who makes what in the fickle land of hardware,

I'm merely stating the facts.

I never said that it was faster in all games, your just choosing to interpret what I said in this way(incorrectly) for the sake of being argumentative and to avoid actually admitting the 9800GX2 is a better card performance wise, ok ex 4870 user, like it makes a difference.

CF is miles better and scales better. also it doesn't need profiles.

Whatever.

Agreed with what you say!

But:

a) I dont want to get two bulky cards inside my system. (i.e 2 X 4870s take up 4 slots)

b) I got this card for less than the price of 1 X 4870. So in that sense its a bargin imho.

c) Even if I sell this card for 100 notes I'd still be laughing.

Even if I was given the choice of a 4870 and 9800GX2 at the same price, i'd go for the 4870. GX2 would have to be around £140 for me to be slightly interested. Granted, if you didn't want to crossfire, buy a 4870x2 and take up 2 slots:p

Let me know how you get on with the buzzing thing, if it still happens with the gx2 ;)

Was contemplating getting the gx2 myself, let me know how you find it eh? :D

I'm sure its probably been asked a hundred times but... heyho :D

Looking to upgrade my BFG 8800 GTX OC1. Considering either a 4870 or a GTX 260.

Which should I go for? Please give me your opinions :)

I woke suggest doing a quick search before you post as there must be at least 20 threads asking the exact same thing.

Get the 4870.

You confused me now lol.

I got the GX2 for 150 quid which is not too far.
a 4870 1GB can be had for around £190 off OCUK atm, which is 40 quid more than what I bought the GX2 for.

And the 4870X2 costs more than 300 quid surely?

Will do buddy ;)
Actually Im hoping it will dissapear.
It should do since before the 8800 GTX I had the 8800 GTS (albeit the old version G82 or whatever it was called) and it didnt buzz.
