Bungie hinting at new game on front page

Thats fine, nobody is saying people can't dislike the game :)

What Kreeeee is getting at is that there is always someone who feels the need to come into the threads and tell us how much they hate the game and it gets annoying after a while.
What I fail to understand is why people feel the need to do it since it actually takes more effort to open the thread and post such crap rather then just avoiding the thread.
 
wasn't there talk of another halo game (not halo 4) that was based in a different part of the universe with a different spartan etc but ran along side the original story (not before or after, but parallel with it). maybe it's that?

For it to be the worst fps he's played he must have only played Halo, Half life, Dues Ex and Goldeneye.

Of course everyone is allowed their opinion (I'm not a big fan, I'd much rather Play CoD4 online but I play it for the company) but to make such a strongly anti halo statement in a bungie new game thread requires a large chip on the shoulder!
 
The problem with Halo isn't that it's rubbish, because it certainly isn't, the problem is that a large collection of people treat it as the second coming of Christ.

Ok, i'll use an example (that will probably make me rather unpopular), English international football. Now, i don't dislike football, in fact i quite like it, but what i do hate is when the next international game comes up you get hype shoved down your throat like one of Mrs Doyles cups of tea. This gets up my nose so much i was actually partly glad when we were knocked out of the latest Euro tournament.

While that is a very removed comparison, keep in mind that the situation where it occurs and the outcome are actually quite similar. People get sick of hearing about Halo if they aren't utterly in love with it, so it recieves more hate than it deserves.

Personally i would like Bungie to create a new IP, they're clearly very creative and I'd love to see some new ideas.

I definitely agree with that, but people just need to grow up about it. I look forward to a new IP from bungie as they're very talented developers but I think being restricted to the halo style of play and lore severely limits their potential.

Get over what exactly? I have no problem with you whining about the game. I simply just ignore the trolling because it adds absolutely nothing to the discussion.

Hopefully they can get it right this time and not take advice from the fans. The fresh start would also be good for them.
 
I agree that whilst Halo added many things to the genre, coming from PC gaming, it's just a bit...well pants

Halo 1 was brilliant for a console, halo 2 was basically a MP add on and halo 3 was dire

Yes but for every person who treats it like the second coming, you have two who are so personally offended by it that they act like Halo's killed their fathers and raped their mothers - and many of these people haven't even touched the game. So the obvious response would be to go in the opposite direction. That's Halo for you.

Put me firmly in the 'Halo is the best FPS bar none' camp, I don't care what anyone else thinks, I'm smug and comfortable with the fact that I have all the top shooters like Half Life, Deus Ex, Unreal, etc on a variety of systems and am actually placed to make a valid opinion on it, unlike 99% of people deriding the game.

That's not how it works. I'm sure Microsoft would love Bungie to make another Halo game. If anything the reason for Bungie not making more Halo is because they don't want to.

I think you have summed up in fewer words what i could have ever achieved trying to say what you have said. Halo is great, you can't argue against that, the problem is those that don't agree just blow their opinions out of proportion to a massive degree due to the insane amount of hype halo receives.

My monies are on a game set in the Halo Universe but not directly tied with any previous Halo release, at least not primarily. Another ONI game perhaps? Or a game based on the ONI story arc and personnel.

Yeah... there are FAR worse FPS titles than Halo, although I do like them all to varying degrees. Just look at the budget or bargain bins at your local PC game retailer ;)
 
Personally I think the Halo Franchise is amongst the best, if not the best FPS franchise on consoles at the moment.

Halo does not stand out in any one area (well I think the vehicle mechanics controls are the best in FPS) but it does everything very well.

Halo has a learning curve there is no doubt about it. Each gun has its own mechanics, the levels are simple in concept and design but offer a lot of subtleties that once you are familiar with them you can use to your advantage.

The combat mechanics work very well and the skill required to play the game is evident.

I personally am not a great fan of the Ubisoft Shooters, the point click kill (GRAW / COD / R6) games. If pushed I cant give you a definitive thing that I dislike, but for me they just don't feel right. They are not as fun and Halo.

With Halo I even enjoy the game when I am playing poorly. I don't enjoy the Ubisoft games when I am playing well.
