Scratch inquiry and facepalm.jpg

reading the Paint Renovator info page it says to use SRP after using paint renovator in order to restore the original finish of the paint and finish off to a gloss so looks like both will be needed, not bad as I have srp anyway :)

We recommend you always try Autoglym Super Resin Polish first as it may rectify your problem without undue paint removal.

Which is true I guess, why use an abrasive polish when you don't need to. But I doubt SRP will have enough cut in it to do the job, its mainly fillers.

By the looks of it Paint Renovator is similar to T-Cut and Scratch-X, so you could try either of those if you already have one or the other.

You can also by 'sample' kits of Menzerna and 3M polishes, IIRC the latter are about £10 from eBay.

I have ued T-Cut (*** tube mild version) on my old car and found it to be quite weak and not the giver of decent results! this was on dark paint so I'd imagine it would be worse off on silver!
ScoobyDoo69 said he has some spare titanium silver Dr Colorchip if you want it. ;)

:o

How do I go about arranging price etc? if the price is good then I would not mind giving Dr Colorchip a try :)

otherwise it's going to have to be touchup pen, AGPR and SRP !

Thanks Fox for the touch up pen offer on Saturday, I’ll buy a pen from BMW as I don’t want to use up all your paint as I’m sure I may well need it for light scratches or stone chips again in the future.

Up to you mate, I've not used it yet in 2 years so I doubt I'll use it more than a few times over the next 2 years either :p

If you did bring it I'd need a few hours to apply several layers to get the scratch depth to surface level before polishing down with agpr and srp and I don't think the meet is going to last that long and it won't be much fun kneeling down beside my car the whole time either :p

Unless you're ok with me borrowing it for the weekend and posting it back to you perhaps!

Thats the thing, he does want it :/

Ohhh I see ¬_¬

Me :D Had I been the OP in this thread it would be full of people taking the **** and telling me to get a life and that it was just a scratch - the dent I posted about once was bigger than that ffs :p

Yes, but this scratch won't disappear if you leave it.

The point most of you guys seem to be missing with the red rag to a bull 'omg its fox get him' of that thread is that I am NOT a leather care expert. Infact I know very little about leather other than its nice to have in a cars interior. I do not know what things will come out naturally, what things require professional repair and which things you can use products on. My knowledge of leather is very weak - so I asked a genuine question.

If I'd have known it would come out on its own (It's not done yet, however) I'd hardly have posted a thread asking about it.
