E8400 E0 Stepping Review

Does making a SKU for a specific stepping take any work? The C1 and E0 seem to have the same box number so I imagine there would be, maybe a Don could enlighten me.

A tenner is a fair premium for those who can't wait, nowhere near as bad as the 4870 markup :D

They are clearly marked on the Retail BOX so Stevie Wonder could very nearly see its a E0.

It would be no real hassle and take a few seconds longer to check for stepping.

I just bought my retail e8400 E0 for a shade over £100, no premium :D

Yeah I just asked a few places to check and they happily did, then packed up that very one.

For the record many E8400 cant even hit 4GHZ, the E8500 got the best Core samples and even the E8200 mostly hit 4GHZ even seen some do it on 1.2V on XS.

From my experience E8400s clock just as well as E8500s.....and I am on my 9th wolfy tomorrow....

In fact all of my best clocking chips have been either E8400s or E3110s

w00t just found somewhere online selling e0 e8400. not listed on there webby as e0 but got a physical check. arrives tomorrow.

Tetsu is currently either waiting ready at the door for the posty or has his computer apart trying not to break the LGA775 heatsink pushpins and dripping Heatsink paste everywhere. :D:p

Its the former :D

I'm waiting by the window playing tiger woods 09. Drinking tea and relaxing. Wifes going nuts as this is the 3rd thing i've waited in for this week and she wanted to go to a restaurant for lunch. I told her the city link driver comes first in this relationship and if I can fit her in later I will.

Popped out to the shops and now my keys dont seem to be working

Very possible but from XS and multiple peeps it seems E8500 were better and it makes sense, you bin the lesser cores for slower CPU's.

seen e8400 do 5ghz so I think your wrong.

 Oh yes, link to the completed 8hr Prime run Please................no, i thought not.

As far as i am aware the fastest 24/7 stable E8400/E8500 was mine at 4.75ghz under phase. I have seen no proof anywhere of anyone running one faster. You may have well seen peeps benching at 5ghz and over, but that is not the same as running 24/7.

I have a Q6600 that will BIOS boot at 5gig :P the board is too crap to actually be stable at that speed even if by some miracle the CPU was which I doubt - it won't even reliably boot quads into windows above 3.4gig (nForce 650) but I was testing higher FSBs to see if it was an FSB hole and accidentally put 550 instead of 450 in... and it booted to the BIOS lol. Can't wait to test it in my P35 board when I get tired of SLI.
