Do you freeze 'Bread'...?

Yep.

We freeze bread all the time. That way you can buy the cheap end of the night bread from the supermarket at 10p a shot ;)

Indeed, and laugh at the chumps paying £1.40 a loaf.

Have 3 loafs of TTD bread in there atm that cost 20p a pop.

What I do is get a loaf of bread and some of that posh pate which comes in slabs from Tescos and make a whole loafs worth of sandwiches in one go then freeze the whole loaf. Each day I take out one sandwich from the stack, wrap it in tin foil and by lunch time it has perfectly defrosted and is satisfyingly moist. I can usually get 10 daysworth of sarnies this way. Saves the both the pate going off and the bread going stale over the course of a fortnight. The only downside with freezing bread is it going dry if left in there too long, usually takes over a month before it is seriously borked, though it is still good for soup and possibly toast.

On the subject of bread, is it only me who steadfastly avoids eat the crusts at either end of a loaf, unless there is absolutely no alternative? Crusts are only good for soup dunking imo.

All the time.. In fact, toast comes out better from frozen. I have no idea why. I guess because it doesn't dry out..

I find this as well..I think cooked from frozen its better! I hate really dry toast that turns to dust as soon as you bite it..I prefer dead thick bread as well for toast

thread has just reminded me I stuck 2 loaves in the freezer like a year ago.

I dont remember ever taking them out either. :(

Rarely use the freezer these days, rather just buy fresh on the way home from work.

Why the hell do people freeze bread? Why not just buy fresh bread when you need it? Freezing bread is idiotic.

Are you actually for real?

A: Because when you run out of bread you can open the freezer and get another loaf out, instead of driving X miles to buy a loaf.

Did that answer your question

That doesn't really make sense?

It just saves you needing to keep going to the shop, especially if you are a larger family (who will obviously go through it quicker).

my mum does this (she does it more with bread rolls)

for her it's handy, for me (not living at home) it'd be pointless

much rather just stopping in the shop to get a fresh loaf each week
