Just purchased the following:

Western Digital 1TB(1000GB)Caviar GP SATA II 300 16MB cache 7200rpm

total: £71.66

..to replace my year and a half old 320GB seagate, or actually both of them.

How often do you guys replace hard drives?

Main reason was I suppose the price of 1TB has dropped a hell of a lot since I last remember checking some 6 months ago.

Is the western digital hard drive decent/fast/reliable, it will simply be used for storage. :)

I've never had any problems in the past with western digitals hence why I went for it, they do tend to be abit loud though but that doesn't really bother me too much.

I only avoid IBM (now hitachi?) and Maxtors due to previous bad experiences.

£71 all in didn't seem too bad, was the cheapest 1TB I could find! :)

How many years warranty do the western digitals come with these days?

think your model is 3, although worth checking using your s/n online, i heard some places were offering a cheeky 1 year warranty to offer lower prices
