How much does it cost to run a pc 24/7?

Does someone mind doing the math for me at roughly 186 hours a month PC on?

Just rough calculations wondering what I'm paying for eleccy

I always turn mine off at the wall when I'm not using it, and I rarely leave it on downloading. It has never stayed on overnight.

I always manage to guilt trip myself into saving the environment.

Unless I'm downloading loads into the night I leave it on (Damn virgin broadband barstards), or if I'm having an all nighter, but if not, then I just switch it off at the mains.

I upgraded from 2mb to 10mb broadband recently as it's cheaper to turn my pc off at night and do any downloading in the day/evening than pc on 24/7.

my pc runs 24/7 crunching numbers for the folding@home project.
Would have thought ppl here with grunty rigs would be doing their bit..

I'd rather save the money, not have a hot room, not endure the constant hum of my hard drives and not have to remove my power LED to get a dark room at night.:)

nothing like the soothing sound of my pc to put me to sleep.
plus free heating in the winter.
Value for money right there.
I suppose it helps that my rent already includes all bills. :)

Most suppliers don't publish their unit charges until you join them, so I had to use the one I knew...

Their charges should be on their websites for all their plans. If you use energyhelpline.com it will give you a list of all the prices for the different plans. :)

I've moved my PC into the living room mainly as its an HTPC system. Have to say it takes the chill off in the morning lol.
