*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Name is Arkhan rank 20 disciple of khaine. I'm just getting a bit sick of the queues at the moment. Went from going straight on on saturday afternoon (when it should be busiest) to 600 in the queue and a 2 hour wait last night! I wanted to play war because its a pick up and play mmo but at the moment its exactly the opposite, which is a real shame because the game is superb

Read somewhere people reckon the server limit it just 3000, 1,500 each side. Based on counting the numbers of chars on a full server at one time. That sounds way to low to me.

The queues are the main thing that are annoying me at present.

Whenever I get home from work it takes 2hours to get into the game, needs looking at.

No point in people saying change server unless they are going to move my char etc. That cloning idea of theres was just a pile of excrement too, why not provide a proper move facility, even the game is new I have still have a few contacts on that server, all of which are not moving for whatever reasons.

Can't be that many people on my server, Karag Norn or something, I always seem to come across the same people all the time ;P

I changed server after the first I had silly queue's but ;I don't have any friends; (:p) playing.

WoW was like this at one time.

well, the flip side, if you go on a low pop server, tbh its dead. i play on dragonback mountains on order (white wizard? called carlo) and its pretty boring. For a start off the guilds are few and far between and the ones that are there im not sure are English speaking.

queues for rvr are short - like 30sec to 5 mins for tier 1 / 2 but destro has more players as usual so queues there may be higher. never had to queue for the server.

not sure whether i will continue past my grace period + 30 days tbh, not exactly enthralled by it so far. its fun but the pvp is basically a gank fest AND being order, you stand virtually no chance of getting any reknown items cus chaos own every flippin keep.

I've heard everything from 3000 (1,500 a side), to 6000 (3000 a side), to 8000 (4000 a side).

Seems less because there are so many zones I suspect. If you consider that there are 6 tier 1 zones, and 6 tier 2 zones. Thats 12 zones in tiers 1 and 2. If there were only 100 people per side in each of those zones, that would be 2400 people. Cant speak for everyones server, but on Hirn theres a lot more than 100 people in each zone (we had nearly 100 just in our 1 keep attack group on sunday), so, if you assume there are 200 people in each zone per side...thats 4800 people in total. Thats not including the people in tier 3 of course.

Daoc servers capped out at around 3,500 on average, I think WoWs tended to peak out at around 5,000. So 4,800 would be about right (+ the tier 3 people)

Im not saying that isnt true on your server or anything, But you can get renown gear from the capital city. I dont know if you have to be in a guild to talk to the npc's in the guild hall as its not an instance or anything? But in their there are 3 npc's that sell all the renown gear from lvl 1-40 btw. Atleast there is in my one!

What's the difference, other than the fact that your characters still exist the original server if you want to go back? Seriously, I'm not seeing the downside here.

Is that sign up total for the server or concurrent players on the server at any one time? If it is the latter then eventually 80% of those will be rank 40. Can you imagine 2500+ players in T4? Any more on the server and it could get somewhat crazy.

Wait until the 1st month is up and see how server load is I guess. They did the clone thing because it was relatively easy and fast to do. They were not exactly going to implement a character move and associated billing stuff at short notice especially during a launch. The clone thing was a good move imo.

Also queues are just what the game needs tbh. It is either that, or lock out a faction when it caps. On the US servers I see destro queued on loads of servers. Who wants to play a PvP game where you are always outnumbered 3-1. Hopefully things will ballance out over time, and perhaps the destro caps are being artificially reduced at the mo to bring more order in?

Make your complaints to Goa, I expect they'll reply, eventually after a week or 10.

Currently on the server. The info came from a population count of each class on a full Destro server. The threads over at Warhammer Alliance website. I'm at work so can't link to it.

The numbers are in line with DAOC which is what Mythic are using for the server architecture.

Or make higher capacity servers. The limit set fair to low. The player base seems to want few high capacity servers but are getting many low capacity servers.

WoW basically solved the problem but upping the server cap. Servers moves, new servers etc didn't really solve the problem. Nor shall cloning. The clone is out of date the moment its done. Got a few good items, levels over the weekend. Don't really want to undo that all now by playing on the clone server.

but what happens when you have 6000 people on the server, and 80% of them are in the T4 zone in a massive battle? I expect that the game is unable to cope with so many in what could be a small area, hence the need to cap population. They might increase it down the line, when more and more of it gets optimised, but who knows.

The only reason for the clone was to move to a low pop server, for those who wanted to move. You were to forget about the original character.

You cant compare the RvR to the PvP in WoW. 40 per side is max you'll ever see in that atm. In WAR the numbers on each side could be insane in the T4 zones when everyone gets to the rank cap. Say the cap is 3000 at the mo. If the server is full, and 70% of your players are rank capped and are fighting in T4 RvR you'll have 700 players in each of the T4 zones. That is 350 per side if it is even. Even if you use 50% you end up with 250 per side. That is a lot of people to have at the front line in the war.

got a lvl 15 Witch hunter and a lvl 10 swordmaster. so far liking it a lot, the world is vast and there are plenty of oppurtunities for both single and pvp play.

I think I shamed a few higher level players last night ;)

Level 10 player in Phoenix Gate.. killing level 19 & 20s .. well the killing blows :D

I've been RvR in shadowlands too.. and if I'm sat in Spite's fortress defending I'm having a great time repairing, spam healing and debuffing (there's several debuffs that really annoy melee types - you see them running for cover after as their DPS drops by 50% although I can't cast at the same time.. but being safe in the fort is useful).

I'm starting to get the hang of the archmage.. although I've not found anyone to rez yet.

Another neat trick I've learnt - using pads for ramping up healing and moral abilities. The pad has it's own HP, so use transfer from the pad todo healing during the quieter points and the moral bar goes up.. so you have the moral big heal available immediately.
Probably not designed todo that but pads are 'living' so you can drain from it :D

Well its not one T4 zone is it? It’s multiple T4 zones. Like all the lvl 70s in WoW aren’t all in one place. There are multiple T4 RvR zones. Plus scenarios, instances and PQ everyone not going to be in the same battle.

WoW going to get a massive outdoor RvR area in WolTK. Not heard of any limit on player numbers.

Hey guys I wanna play a tank but I'm not sure which so I decided I will chose going with the look. Could you guys post pictures of tanks if you have any? High or low level..

thanks :p

Which side? Besides, when you're on the character select screen, the toon you choose is done up as a high level equipped one - ie. you see a white lion in full armour and furs etc, it's only when you select it that he gets downgraded to his starter rags :)

Destruction. Yes I know about the character selection screen but I want to see more in-game :p

At the moment I'm clearly leaning toward Chosen, damn those guys looks bad ass :o

There is a front line in each of the 3 T4 zones... so if you have 50% of your 3000 at the 40 rank cap, you'll have 250 per faction side in each of the 3 zones. 50% of the rest of server is in scenarios, instances....etc

The whole point if it all though is to sack a city, and do to so, you'll be on the front line in one of the three T4 zones, playing a game of tug of war. If you are RvR there is no point being in an area of the T4 zones that are locked, you'll be on the front line.

As far as wow goes, it'll still be the same 'omg I cant control my character, because I have been feared, stun locked, mind controlled, scatter shotted, noob coiled, scared,' and everyone playing for themselves rubbish that exists there already. Add into the mix that skill nearly counts for crap because it is all based on your equipment and a cookie cutter talent spec.

I am only rank 22 in War, and I can tell you that the RvR is light years ahead compared to wow and i've done wow pvp for 2-3 years (stormscale). Another point to make about wow, every night there are at least 200-300 queues on Stormscale, so it is capped is it not?

Edit: Oh, and Stormscale not being a carebare server I can tell you that there is sod all PvP going on in the zones that have objectives. Very rarely do you have any sort of mass PvP mayhem taking over these zone 'objectives'. Probably because they dont really provide that much for the zone/game. World PvP is dead if World Of Warcraft (should be called World Of Battleground Instances), unless you count the gankers. End of.

Chosen look ace - I have one but can't post a screeny at work.

However there are drawbacks. The PvE is fine. No problems there at all though at level 18 I have too much damage done to me and I can't deal enough damage out to kill.

It may just be me but time will tell. So just a little word of warning. Choose carefully. If you want an evil looking race then Chosen is probably the best.

I'd rather be on a lower pop server than que for up to 2 hours. Not had any trouble getting partys or WB's for PQs so far on my server, scenario waits are about the same as on Azgal. Slightly less open pvp but there's still stuff going on most of the time.
