Student wins lottery and wants to buy...

If I had 7 mill in the bank, i'd still go to university. The experience was great, and if I could do it without the worry of money it would be even better.

Where else (other than the army!) do you get to hang out with so many like minded people at the age of 18 without many worries? Uni is great, being able to do it without the worry of money or indeed even prospects would be even greater.
Depends I guess. Unless you managed to really keep yourself grounded you're going to be a completely different situation to most of the people you come across in Uni. My Uni life largely consisted on trying to work out how I was going to make £10 last for a week and praying my crappy Astra GTE wouldn't pack up on the way home.... and I don't regret a day of it. Uni life is a rite of passage imo, if you're not slumming it you're not doing it right :D

That said if I was in her shoes I'd probably still go to Uni simply because it's nice to have something to fall back on education-wise.

Don't get me wrong, the best memories I have are from some of the slummiest times I had! Just would have been nice to not have to bother with the whole cash thing in the background.

Anywho, all getting a bit OT, sorry about that :)

I'd have a Ka for the odd trip back to the country, no one will touch it while I'm in the South of France... chillin'. :p

Ka's are a god send for those lil country lanes. I drive vans all day but me and the gf go down to Cornwall at least once a year and having a lil car like a Ford Ka for that is great. Many a minute I have spent laughing at people in their flash cars taking an age to park or struggling to keep up on those country lanes.

Not that I'dd buy one myself:p

Does the press have to know if you win the jackpot? I wouldn't want anyone to know, she wouldn't have told the press for the money if she'd just won 7m?

I have a Ka and as a free hand me down, it works just fine, has enough "extras" for me to get by and generally I'm not too fussed. Having won that much money though, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to buy one. But as many have said already, it's all down to personal taste and interests.

For someone who's got 7 million in the bank its going to be hell, the first mistake she's made is making herself national news for winning, she will never be treated correctly and you won't actually know who your friends are in the future.

Bang on. I would not tell anyone apart from my family, it's just not worth it. How do you know your new friends arn't just sniffing at the money?

I would want to start a business.

Good on her for not going nuts and getting something unsuitable.

But that doesn't mean you have to buy something crap, FIAT 500/BMW Mini ticks box.

I wouldn't. I take your point, but the 'experience' wouldn't be the same unless you totally hid the fact you were a milltionaire. You'd be the millionaire kid, wouldn't live in a dodgy slum, eat 2 for 1 pork pies and go to the co-op for cashback when the cash machines wouldn't pay out anymore......just isn't the same.
