All PC Gamers are pirates and the PC is hard to program for...

. That doesn't mean that average Joe, who isn't interested in computer hardware etc. knows what the hell to do.
.

Does the average Joe know how to place a crack on a pc game? Does he even know how to copy files ? Does he panic when he gets asked for a key and isn't familiar with reading the NFO or using a keygen ?

Anyways, all people but one I know, have a cracked 360, they got the 360 only because it meant free games. Fair enough that the people I know are mostly 17/18 year olds, but I'm actually wondering what percentage has a flashed 360, considering it's near impossible to detect ( well, online then) it if the firmware is up-to-date.

Er, yeah - it's a damn sight easier than taking a 360 apart and flashing a drive .

Okay yeah my last post was indeed rubbish, but still... If someone really doesn't want to pay, he won't, it isn't hard to learn if you're competent enough to use google, torrents/newsgroups and crack your games or whatever.

Bad sellers

UT3, as soon as i loaded it up & started playing the only thing that seemed new to me was the gfx & consoled , so no wonder its a slow starter

GOW have not started to really play it yet Console game play.

DMC3 Console game play.

The odd are stacked against all 3 for various reason.
But the main one is the very console game play that does not always appeal to many PC gamers & same of the PC gamers may actually prefer to play it on the console that they also own instead of the PC.

2. if these types of games are to stand any chance of a reasonable sales on the pc with what is already stacked against them then they must be released at the same time as the console versions as even the people who would buy them for the PC don't like to wait & will buy the console version.
And to make matters worse they don't even tell you that its even coming out for the PC months or a year later until its to late.

These Devs really don't do them selfs any favours.

BTW i like all 3 of these games on the PC.

its the people who download games through toeents that are ruining it for the rest of us, you gotta look at it from there view, they are loosing big money bcos of cheap ass pirates

tbh im a pir8er and its mainly movies/music, but i do the occasional PC game. cod2 i would have never looked at ina shop, but dlding and playing it got me hooked onto all FPSs, and i bought it, and cod4, and crysis and warhead, ETC etC ETC.

thank you piracy.

Well, it's nice to see another highly-placed voice making their support for the industry that made them known...

Molyneauxs one to talk, his games were so "ZOMGAMAZING" lionshead was near ready to close its doors till microsoft bought them over. Oddly enough his last pc game B&W2 tanked. Strange that he has negative things to say eh, wonder what other media whore that reminds me of, hmm :o

Hmmmm...
Dominated by Sims & WoW ?

Does he forget all those people playing CoD4 on pc over the consoles ? The people still playing battlefield & CSS & TF 2 ? What about RTS games ? I can't see any popularity of them at all on consoles, would suck a bit too playing Supcom or CoH with a gamepad :(. The reason the pc games are doing so poor is your own fault, make good games first, instead of lazy ports ( eg. mercenaries 2, wth for buggy junk was that on release, Gow and halo2 are quite poor games on pc, etc...) ?

Maybe Peter Molyneux should stop cutting features from Fable 2, then maybe we'll have something interesting to play when he does finally cave and port it to PC. While he is at it, maybe he could explain why I simply have too many games to complete on the agenda right now, considering "there aren't that many releases on PC".

im pretty sure he is talking about the US market because when you do look at the weekly pc charts over there its always the same games, world of warcraft, sims games without fail

the other problem with pc gaming is that if a game is good people tend to stick with them and make a large community and be with it for years at a time where as on x360 and ps3 they just move on to the next thing

I sympathise with their plight with regard to loss of earnings when their hard work is pirated and understand it's a business to earn money at the end of the day.
If a game is of suitable quality though it shouldn't really suffer too badly as there is a real market out their willing to pay for a worthy product.
Copy protection and DRM is only hindering those who purchase legit copies imo and should not be used unless a better method that doesn't alienate the user is found.

I'm happy to part with my hard earned as long as it's not a dumbed down console port I'm purchasing. Anything else I'm not likely to pirate as I wouldn't play it anyway.

Maybe developers should charge less for PC games and make them easier to download a la steam. At the end of the day if anyone wants to steal a game they only have to wait a while for a crack to become available.
If a product is of suitable quality and is priced competatively it's likely to sell more units imo.
