*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Not yet from looking at the website, but they have implemented the cross scenario queuing and a few other changes. Probably won't see this patch before early next week at this stage.

The PvP isn't better, the combat system is simply not as fun as World of Warcrafts. (I had Warhammer Online for about a week)

You can level by PvP which is great, but sorry the combat system is just annoying, it's clunky and the 'queue' like system for your abilities sucks.

Edit: For all the people who say WoW PvP isn't skilful btw, go watch some decent Arena movies.

Thats a matter of opinion. I would much rather spend my time PvPing in WAR, than PvPing in WoW. Thus, for me, the PvP IS better.

No. I'm stating my opinion, I played Warhammer for hours on release so I have a right to say what I like.

Sudden surge of idiocy or something I suppose.

Ah, classic :) Troll a few threads, wait for someone to take the bait, and then insult them. Seriously, is your life so bland that you get off on this kind of thing?

Well I think it is anyway and WoW will be getting its own large scale battles in Lich King I believe.

Its certainly a nice addition, but it should have been in WoW from day one, and it should be in every zone, not just 1 (is it 1?). If it had been there from the start or at least covered everywhere, I might have stayed in WoW instead of having to go elsewhere to try and recapture the glory of my Daoc days.

Fair enough, I just can't see how as I hate games that have a delay in attacks, really puts me off.

Didn't you just do the same thing?

Agreed, WoW PvP was kind of ruined with the inclusion of cross server BG's and flying mounts, but Lich King seems to be doing its bit to help fix them.

The achievement system will also kick off some PvP I think, they have achievements for killing each factions city boss and so forth, should make for some fun times.

WoW has a global cool down too, or am I missing your point?

Regardless, I prefer WAR, especially the PVP - after playing WoW heavily from US release I can't see myself ever going back to it even when the new expansion appears.

Oh no it's not that.

You can queue up an attack on Warhammer, it seemed to effect melee the most.

Go use an attack as a Marauder and while it's executing you can press another button and it'll automatically do it after.

It just feels odd after playing WoW, I really hate that sort of system.

Ah gotcha.

It makes me laught to think that pressing a few buttons makes a great combat system (I'm on about WoWs and WAR's now) I do prefer WAR's because, generally, I think it's done slightly better - I don't get any delays when the action is usable. How I would love a game with proper combat again where you can dodge projectiles/spells - sadly we're in an age where they seem to be able to track you for miles.

EDIT: Doesn't being able to queue attacks up make things better? Surely it's better than waiting for it to become available and then pressing it? (because you were only going to press it again)

For an MMO I think WoW's great, obviously I never expect to have some kind of crazy Ninja Gaiden style combat in an RPG but WoW gripped me and the competition just hasn't touched it. (for me)

Had a great evening last night.
1) Adventured - ran through the map till Chapter 10
Hehe - I think you folks in W&R think I'm nuts.. level 11 running through those zones!

2) Did some work towards chapter 7

3) Farmed the battle by the chapter 5 PQ and the outpost. I wasn't expecting but this is what dropped (mage stuff, sold the rest - including the bow etc) but what made be think was the quality of the items:
* new shoulders
* new robe
* new ring x2
* new staff
* new jewelry x2
* ruined bits (I'm looking for these to up my magical scavenge and the reason I was farming in the first place). Result - two sets of essences..
* Talisman (+40 corp resist) for embedding..

4) Did some RvR defence - however with two people.. we took out a few and then snuffed it.

5) Joined the folks in the W&R guild :)

If you're running about exploring make sure you talk to all Rally masters and Kill collectors at each point, you'll get up to 1500xp each just for right clicking on them (depending on your level difference from them).

Altdorf is also an ace place to explore, you can pick up a quest to explore the town and get 2500xp from doing it BEFORE handing it in!

Lastly run up to each PQ, again you'll get 1000 or so XP for being near it, nevermind doing anything.

Oh man, so when I played chosen I was so bored, Witch Elf is at 20 now but my brother decided to play so I made a new character with him.

He's a Diciple of Khaine so I went Black Orc :D really interesting and fun, I took the flight path to his start up area I seem to be the only orc there, (and the only tank around my level playing when I was on) doing PQ's and tanking for everyone, it's fun :D

"YOUS A SMALL ONE!" "MY CHOPPA IS BIGGER DAN YOURS!" :d "oi ya git!"

I've played lots of MMO's and I just love how Tanks shine more than they do, in wow at low levels they don't seem to be that much different, even higher up you have other classes than can take damage....
Anarchy online didn't make a difference at all, it all depended on how much HP you had and Armor that everyone else could reach (at least for the first few years) and some non tanking classes became better because they could keep agro with insane damage and high evades.

But in WAR, in PQ's everyone follows me, they wait for me to attack, and if someone does jump the gun, you can see how much more they get hurt. There's this stark difference in how each class takes damage that you don't see often in mmo's.

They've managed to balance it for solo but on bosses, ie - Some Champions and definatly Heroes, without a tank, you'd need a zerg of damage.

I played it for years aswell, it seems the magic wears off after than and addiction may remain just like a drug haha. My mate tells me Warhammer Online is a lot better than WoW (and he was addicted to that only a few days ago) We have similar interests so i'm hoping I'm going to enjoy it aswell.

Better bloody well do! £28 down the drain if i dont.
Been researching classes but don't have a clue what to go for :confused:

Forget researching classes and jump right in, thats what I did. Im an ex wow player which I quit about 8 months ago. I bought War on a whim as some of my old guildies were playing it, I did very little 'reading up' and just picked a class and entered the fray. I initially played a Witch Elf up to rank 9, its very much a rogue kind of class (not what I imagined a Witch to be) and then I tried a Magus to rank 10 which didnt really appeal to me, and now Ive plumped for a Marauder and Im enjoying a lot. I think I will go back to the Witch elf later on as it was fun (she is maxing out tradeskills atm so Ill have a good start once I go back)

The surprising thing for me is the fact I never played a melee class in WoW, but im so loving steaming in and chopping people up in WAR. The only thing I can advise is get WoW out of your mind and play WAR totally fresh and new its great fun.
