Fifa vs Pes

In my opinion, Fifa beats PES hands down. It doesn't come close in any department.

People just need to give Fifa the time of day to realise how much better it is.

I agree. PES feels so unnatural now, it plays nothing like football, it's pure arcade. Shame. Hopefully in 2010 it'll be great.

I'm sad to say it but Fifa....

I have never played a football game for so long and the will to go back for more is strong! If you want an arcadey footie game then PES is your game and if you want a more realistic game then Fifa is your game.

I'll probably pick up PES aswell or rent it but for me, Fifa 2009 is soooo damn good and for £29.71 I'm chuffed to bits with the amount of stuff there is to do in it for a footie game!

PES feels like Virtua Striker that I played in arcades to me these days. FIFA all the way, although I miss Master League :(

Fifa is by far the more complete game but I'd bet if the PES online worked this year MP games would be more fun than fifa's. Yep it's more arcade but it's more fun.

Tha tackling in Fifa is poor beyond belief, I am shocked how bad it is and how easy it is to just hold A and run into people. Its also too sluggish with the controls and player to round players. To simply send a player the wrong way takes a contortion of trigger and multi stick pushing.

PES it that respect has it beaten hands down.

The shooting is far better right now in Fifa. Much more variation. Passing in Fifa is more rewarding because it's not as accurate as PES. Yet the throughball is pants and getting a player to run onto one os become a chore. I've had them stop or pause withe the ball or not even attempt to run onto one.

Subs in Fifa is a ballache. Start button - team management - squad etc. Its so longwinded I always make 3 changes at once.

Fifa's management mode is excellent, better than I expected and I can easily see me playing the 15 seasons of career.

That said we dont know about the new master league changes yet.

I can see me owning both to be honest, Fifa for the more of a sim type game and Manager mode and PES for online MP when you just fancy a good end to end excitement instead of continually running into each other in midfield stealing the ball with Sprint A.

I think I'd be happy with either game this year if I had a month of it.

PES for me and has been for about the past nine eight years. I have tried Fifa on several occasions and I want to like it, but I just can't get into it in the same way. I guess I'm just too used to PES.

If pro evo online is fixed this year, then i can see me playing both games a similar amount.

Fifa this year is much improved, it still has its niggles, and the ball physics still arent right, but its a fantastic game nonetheless.

I have a feeling online will still be goosed this year.

You might get away with holding in beginner mode but you certainly don't online, people will just walk past you!

To send a player the wrong way requires quick hands and experience, you'll get it eventually. The tricks help as well, master the simple ones and it gets a lot easier. Don't bother learning the hard ones as there's no place for them in a normal game.

I can't see where you're coming with the through balls, they are so so easy in '09 compared to '08. It would take like 3 seconds to execute the pass but now it's instant. Lob through balls are a massive amount easier too, a little too easy tbh. Like everything in this game it's not just pick up and instant satisfaction, the learning curve is steep but rewarding.

I agree with the subs, one of the things I liked apart the PES demo, simple and effortless. Why EA make us look at the stands for 5 seconds I'll never know.

Every game I've had online so far has been constant end to end due to the horrific unbalance. There's no working of the ball or building up an attack, it's just straight in and have it. A few quick passes and you're in behind, in '08 that was never the case, so think yourself lucky!

I will shoot some videos of the throughball to show you what I mean.

I got away with Running up an using A against soulja and he has enough experience on Fifa. As I said player stats seems to have no impact on getting the ball.

Its the lag between input ot moving that I find so ZX spectrum. Even on shooting, last night I hit shoot at the D outside the area and the striker hit the ball at the penalty spot. At which point the keeper was on me.

Give me a couple of games later, school me :)

FIFA is brilliant this year, the PES demo is truly awful to be honest.

It feels like such a huge step back, and it's surviving on it's legacy that it was better than FIFA.

There's still so many people out there that blatantly ignore FIFA and say it's crap when it has won this year by a freakin' mile.

For the first time in a long time I was actually shocked at how poor PES felt compared to FIFA :o

I agree. PES 2008 wasn't too bad imo, I thought it played an ok game of football, but it was ruined for me by the fact after 3 months they hadn't fixed the online, so rather than not playing it, I sold it.

Now PES 2009 just doesn't feel right, to say I hate it would be an understatement. FIFA plays right, and in a way I am so glad that the game with all the licenses etc, is the game I like :)

pro evo is like watching man city v liverpool while fifa is like watching wigan v middlesbrough

euro 08 is better than fifa 09 and they have let the through ball become the most important thing in the game probably just to fit in with the new animations to the players asking for the through ball which is a real shame plus it still feel claustrophobic and the scale of the pitch and players seems still to be wrong and again you still feel like a passanger and just pressing some buttons not really attached to the game.

problem with fifa is you have to learn to play fifa not learn to play football thats why many people give up and go back to playing football and pro evo, will be trading my fifa in for pro evo which is still miles ahead of fifa in the fun stakes as it always has been

all imo before anyone crys

I read that one of FIFA 09's selling points this year was the major improvement its supposed to have made in that area. For example, Theo Walcott should not be winning a battle of strength against Vidic.

PES is now the arcade football game, it suits people who want to be like ronaldo and beat several players at once, but the fact is that Fifa now plays a more realistic game of football than PES, and for me that makes it more enjoyable. I'd rather score a brilliant team goal than a solo run.

Beating players is far too easy in PES, and pace is over exaggerated. The most balanced game is definitely Fifa. Also, Fifa has seriously improved on what was already a decent game, wheras PES seems not to have improved much at all.

For me, PES has never been better than FIFA, even when FIFA was stale. It just doesn't feel right at all as a game.

For example, the player movements. Everyone's so static and there's no variation at all in PES. It's like 22 stick men on a green background.

PES for me, FIFA still feels detached and out of control.

PES2009 - 8
FIFA09 - 11

Just for reference!

I am surprised you think it is out of control. That is the biggest improvement imo this year, the responsiveness and control you have over your players.

And that is the case, Messi for example always seems to get shrugged off the ball in my MM Chelsea team.
