5 door family tug - budget £5k

Focus C-Max. Very nice family motors which can he had for < £5k if you shop around.

we have one its a lovely car, but it does take a while to get used to the electric handbreak. the gearbox is very forgiving. for a biggish car it feels very light to drive.

Accord type-v on low miles for 3k, utterly reliable, smart, nice place to be, and the remaining 2k would last forever on the rare parts that'd go wrong.

My mum has a 2004 Jazz 1.4 in black. Awesome fun on the twisties with the ESP, so making it quite a nice drive with the family aboard when not thrashing it within an inch of its life. The boot space and layout is excellent, will house two full size labradors with ease + any other crap you want to throw in there, and that's before you consider folding the back seats up.

The brakes are very good, the gearbox is nice and the engine isn't too bad for a 1.4. The steering is electronic though and lacks feel like my CTR does but OK for manouvreing into spaces etc. The down side is the chassis is pretty stiff so it can get a bit sea sick in back after a while I've found, although that might be my mothers driving where she brakes AT the white line rather than anticipating it cuasing all passengers whiplash in the process.

You get the base models with rubbishy side mouldings on the doors, then my mums model which just comes with alloys and you get a sport thing with little chin spoilers, fog lights and alloys etc.

I'd have one in the household if I had a family and they are pretty nice looking in my opinion.

I had to google the Dacia - jesus wept that's nasty! :p

We have a Honda dealer 1 mile away from home - will pop in tomorrow and see what's what plus then 2 private Civic's to see Sunday.

Phew, lucky I wasn't stupid enough to go to see an A Class 160 Elegance on the way home from work.
