£150 to remove this rust, good price?

It has a small amount of stonechips on the front bumper and the bonnet. It has one small chip under the passenger side wing mirror and a small mark on the rear bumper.

Thats it at the moment :) All other panels are perfect.

 Banger tbh.

It did have a trolley dink in the rear passenger door and some rust coming through on the drivers side sideskirt but both of these have been attended to :)

The alloys dont count btw :p

Your car sounds like mine with the small mark on rear bumper included! except I don't have any wing mirror marks or alloy wheel curbing :p

You know this rust patch has been on our Merc since we got the car, about 3 years ago, shock horror the door hasnt fallen to bits, neither does the car look like a clapped out banger, doom merchants on here would have you believe that the car would be fit for the scrapper by now, unfortunately having a mechanic as an old man, means i know a thing or two about old rusty knackers, cars just dont fall to bits as they used to in 1985, well unless they are japanese imports.

This is the car otherwise. It has a few stonechips on the bonnet and bumper (Shock horror after 130k) and nothing else. You can see the small rust patch in the first picture just below the boot lid. This is the only significant damage to the car and it is probably in my interests to sort it.

That obviously looks like a banger....Get it sorted, just dont pay £150, make sure they treat and not just sand it down and paint over it.

£150 seems an awful lot for that mate, i'd get a few quotes at some independent body shops. I have had a fairly large amount of spraying and fixing up done to my S430 (its actually in again at the moment) so i know what the going rates are, £150 is a lot for that small area.

Is it something that will get worse very quickly? I am looking at a E46 3 series that has something very similar to yours just below the rear light cluster and I'm in two minds whether to buy the car....

It will spread unless nuked. Depending on how deep the rust has done and how deep you need to go to remove it, £150 might not be such a disastrous amount after all. I'd get it done (but get another couple of quotes first). I know if any exposed rust like that developed on my MX5, I'd have it sorted professionally (I've done a couple of very minor spots myself but they're hidden so looks aren't quite as important) and that's an 18 year old car :p

Will prob take years for it to get significantly worse. I will sort it out just whenever I cba simply put.
