Some more annoying questions from me again! :D lol

My Q9550 is currently on its way to me, to replace the e6850.

My main questions are really about voltages, ill be aiming to run it at 400x8.5 (3.4GHz, so a pretty conservative OC), my current E6850 is at 400x8 (3.2GHz). So obviously cpu voltage will need to change to suit the new tech.

What about the voltages for everything else?

Currently setup (on BIOS 0610, release version) as:
CPU: 1.3v (1.27v in windows, quite a drop/droop :O)
GTL 1: AUTO
GTL 2: AUTO
PLL: 1.52v
FSB Term: 1.22
DRAM: 2.1v (As per ram)
NB: 1.16v (Voltage as per instructed for use with 4 Ram DIMMS)
NB GTL: AUTO
SB: AUTO
PCIE SATA: AUTO
LLC: AUTO
CPU Spread: AUTO
PCIE: AUTO

The BIOS version supports the C1 revision of the Q9550, ive gathered that E0 are in short supply/very rare so my chances are that it'll be a C1.

Cheers in advance! :)

Surely someone must be able to advise :( :P

Boots fine etc, got it at 3.4GHz, upped the NB to 1.2v (from 1.16) and set cpu at 1.24 (idles at 1.22, load at 1.17/1.18v)

Core 1 runs marginally hotter than the rest and has failed prime large a couple times. Hasn't failed small yet, is there anything i should up a little more?

Take your pick from CPU, PLL, FSB Term and the NB voltages.

Only you can tell which needs a boost to take you to the next stage. Every CPU and motherboard is different.

Have you updated the BIOS yet?

No im still using the BIOS i was using for the E6850, Im not looking to oc over 3.4 btw. Just not sure whether using a quad core means fsb term, nb, pll voltages need altered?

It's a combination of all three.

Up one and test. If it works then good, if it doesn't then drop it back to where it was and try another one.

0803 Seems to be the BIOS of choice with 45nm/Q9XXX CPU's, if all else fails i shall update it to that and try again.

I'll get there in the end! :D lol

cheers

1406 seems to be the latest and greatest.

Ive given it a couple days and ran that Intel burn app which resulted in 100% pass mark, temps topped out at 65 on core1 and 61 on core4 (heating had been on for hours, was quite toasty in the house :P, ran it under a cooler ambient temp and temp topped out at 55 on core1)

I'll wait and see how things develop as i'd rather not faff about with different BIOS revisions if i can help it :D

Yeah i had a good read over that whilst awaiting delivery of the cpu :), your oc is a lot more extreme compared to mine so i was trying to gauge a happy medium ;) lol
