that sale value isn't an accurate representation of a player's ability?
Pretty much the best way to put it.
As for not being able to mention Young and Berb in the same sentence, 18 assists and 12ish goals that Young got last season put him into the catagory of incredibly effective good player. While I rate Berbatov very very highly, I wouldn't say he was better. he's better......... at what he does, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's the better player. Frankly they are both players that you would be hard pushed to not start in most games for any top 4 side, and really for any side in the world.
The reason I would have loved Arsenal to get Young is he's versatile but still plays the role he's given. He can play as a lone striker if you tell him too and he'll hold it up. if you play him left wing and tell him to hit they byline and cross, he does, if you tell him to play right wing, he does. He can play really any attacking position and doesn't, as so many players do(Joe Cole) insist on playing partially the position they are needed in and partialy how they prefer. Getting Gerrard, or Joe Cole to stay on the left or right when asked to is simply impossible, they want to play in the middle and Cole never stops cutting in. He's a REAL versatile player is what I'm getting at. You can put Gerrard anyway, but he'll always play as a central mid play and gravitate towards the centre, he's not really versatile at all.
Theo Walcott is being praised all over at the moment, but he's really only had two effective games and has been pushed about like a little girl in the rest. Young is, at this stage, far more effective than Walcott with a much more substantial record scoring/assists. I can't understand the love for Walcott with the complete and utter lack of any recognition for Young. I DO like Walcott a lot, I'm not saying he's bad, just saying considering how much he's rated Young really is better at least for now but no one went for him.
FOr the thread, this Man U squad isn't anywhere near as good as the previous teams. They've got a lot of depth, so they could survive more injuries, but thats it, the other big Man U teams were just stronger and much better, if Berbatov comes good though he'll be a major difference as a simple out and out goal scorer up the top has been missing.
