UFC 91 - Couture v Lesnar

Gonzaga was a much bigger man than Couture, and he got tossed around like a rag doll.

I do see this as a tough matchup for Randy, the size strength speed. Ring rust, he hasn't been competing for a while now, hopefully he has kept up the training.

If he wins I see it being by ground and pound, would be nice to see him knock Lesnarsaurus down with a nice overhand right like he did to Sylvia.

I'm not sure what to make of this to be honest, Couture is passed his peak without a doubt and Lesnar is still learning a lot. I really want Couture to get Lesnar down just to see what Brock can do against one of the best Ground And Pound fighters in the business.

Lesnar is all about his amateur wrestling skills, so it'll be a treat if we see these two on the matt.

That just not going to happen, going by his phenomenal stucking ability. He knocked both Mir and Herring down with one punch very early on, and his agility, again taking Mir to the ground quickly. He has a massive natural weight advantage over Couture, so he will just man handle him.

And Couture is a much better fighter than either Mir or Herring, much smarter and more experienced than Lesnar and can strike with the best of them as well as take it to the mat if needed.

Even though he's a better fighter, I believe he's past his prime and Lesnar will win by knockout or GnP :)

Whether Couture is over the hill or not, I would be massively impressed if Brock wins by a knockout.

I don't see that happening, if Lesnar takes him down he should be quite comfortable. If Couture gets Lesnar down that's when things get interesting, the instincts you have as a top fighter like Couture has... you don't lose that, and Couture is the King of Ground And Pound... Lesnar's grappling skill is phenominal though.

Should be a very good fight.

Coutour will just repeat his tactics from the Gonzaga match and put Brock up against the chain in a bid to wear him out.

Can only see one winner here

Lesnar man handled Mir, whilst standing and on the mat until Mir got the submission. Mir is about 30lbs bigger than Couture, so Lesnar won't be going anywhere unless he wants to. The only way I see Lesnar lossing is by a submission if he's careless.

Either way I haven't been this hyped about a fight since Royce Gracie vs Matt Hughes

...but seriously, I think it's going to be a lot closer than people reckon. Lesnar might even surprise people, he dam needs to after Kimbo's latest embarrassment!

Id be putting my money on lesner for this fight. They both seem to have similar skills. Its just going to come down to experience against power.

Physically Brock has a massive advantage but Couture's experience and maybe fitness (if he has stayed in shape) will count for a lot in a championship fight. I wouldn't be suprised if the old man pulls this one off to be honest. If Couture wants to win then he will have to be able to stand with Lesnar. Lesnar's chin is an unknown quantity and Randy must see if he still has the same will to win after taking some shots. As the fight progresses Couture should look to tire Lesnar out in the clinch and try to do some damage with his much famed 'dirty boxing'. If this is succesful then he may be able to go for a G&P or submission victory in the later rounds.

A but silly that Lesnar is getting a title shot after only 1 win in the UFC. Even sillier is the fact that his first defense could be against Mir who beat him less than a year ago. A poor reflection on the depth of the heavyweight division, but if he wins then all credit to him.

I would also put money on lesnar but they do not have similar skills. If the fight goes to the ground then i would favor randy if he was on top and possibly on the bottom if he is able to pull guard comfortably and be able to somehow control lesnar's posture. Other than this i just think that lesnar will use his strength to man-handle couture around.

Randy is nowhere near the king of g'n'p. But his Greco dirty boxing style is probably the best of the wrestlers, Dan is great also too. Randy isn't bad at boxing either as witnessed by the lesson he gave Timmy.

I'm thinking this fight will be something along the line of Pavlik vs Bhop.

Normally I'd back Couture against someone as new as Lesnar every day of the week but he's been in the courtroom more than the octagon over the last 12 months so I cant see how he can be ready!

I know that prior to his (dominant) title winning fight against Tim Silvia he'd been out of the game for over 12 months but he's 2 years older now and Brock is probably the most powerful competitor currently in the UFC!!

Roll on Saturday to find out which way it goes!!

Not really its more to do with money talks;), brock is a massive money pull.

This will be a record buy rate for the UFC, due to Lesnar's army of WWE fans.

In Fighters Only, they have a heavyweight special the where the editor and three contributors to the magazine have a feature on who will be the overall winner.

Hywel Teague:- Lesnar>Couture, Nogueira>Mir and Nogueira>Lesnar for "Undisputed Champion"

Mick Bower:- Lesnar>Couture, Nogueira>Mir and Nogueira>Lesnar for "Undisputed Champion"

Jim Burman:- Couture>Lesnar, Nogueira>Mir and Nogueira>Couture for "Undisputed Champion"

Andrew Garvey:- Lesnar>Couture, Nogueira>Mir and Lesnar>Nogueira for "Undisputed Champion"

A great quote, "Also, bear in mind Nogueira doesn't lose fights, he just runs out of time" All four of his losses are by decision.

Going to be epic whatever :)

Haha thats quality, i think big Nog will run over Mir and then hopefully go on to become the Undisputed Champion which is what he deserves with all of this Interim crap he had going on.
