Well just after Id had the bumper tidied up and the wheels done, some **** scraped the side at a hotel last night, and just my luck no CCTV on my side of the car park:( What annoys me even more is that the person who did it, actually got out of their car and had a look, as I can see a mark where someone has rubbed their hand on the damage:(

Now in all honesty its just minor scrape and it wont cost me a penny to repair, its still a headache none the less, theres even a dent in the 1/4 panel in two places,so the whole panel has to be done:( It just seems to be one little annoying thing after another.





 
i absolutely hate this. one of the reasons i feel like just buying an old banger and running around in that.

Someone will always ruin something you try and keep nice

then you've got the added hassle of trying to ensure the bodyshop get it right the first time aswell :(
 
This is why I buy bangers. I don't care about maintaining it. I don't care if people drive into it. And if it fails the MOT next time round (which usually happens) I break it for parts and buy another.

but then you just look poor, don't enjoy driving because you can only have bangers and can never appreciate cars.

surely you must want a nice car, care that you look stupid and have friends that look at your wierd.
 
Unfortunately I dont have the choice of buying a banger, its a company car, its not the monetary cost that bothers me, just the hassle and grief, of getting something else sorted.

I don't care if I look poor. A car is a car is a car. So long as it gets me where I want to be and back I couldn't care what badge was on the bonnet. I don't enjoy driving. It's a bloody chore.

I would like a nice car. But other people driving into you spoil whatever joy one gets from a new car. I look stupid because I don't spend a fortune on a car? Righto. My friends are all still paying back loans to banks for cars they bought when they had just started driving. I don't. So I look at them weird.

I can see where you are coming from, however i dont think you have to spend much to get a 'nice' car.It just depends whether you equate nice with new and low mileage etc.
 
If you don't enjoy driving why do you browsing the motoring (where motoring enthusiasts post) section of the forum?

I wouldn't say you'd look stupid because you don't spend a fortune on a car, i'd say you'd look stupid (and i can only assume because i don't know what you drive, but only from what you've told me) because you drive bangers and therefore must look odd.

Unlucky for your friends then that took out loans too big for them and are still paying them. I've never taken a loan and never will, funilly enough some (read: a lot) of people save up for their cars and buy them with cash regardless of price. It doesn't cost a lot for a car that's not a 'banger'


I can kind of see where you're coming from as i consider the idea of a cheap old high powered saloon or similar as i can't be bothered with trying to keep a car nice when everyone just ruins it but i don't think i could bring myself to do it unless it was an old m3/5 or something so atleast i don't get ripped for driving a 20 year old basic nissan primera or something

I got mine booked in to the bodyshop in a few weeks. Main thing is to have the new bonnett blended as its slightly darker than the rest of the car but people keeping hitting it at the minute!!!! So I'll get them all sorted in one go.

I have no interest in washing machines, I simply turn it on and it washes my clothes. Therefore, I dont post on washing machine subforums.

You have a rather odd view of motoring if you think anyone with a nice car had to take out a loan to buy it. Many of us here paid cash in hand for our cars without driving a 15 year old bucket of rust which produces a nice long advisories list every MOT.

Of course I have a passing interest in cars. I drive daily. I have no interest in washing machines, but if a discussion about washing machines were to come up, I'd give my opinion on them.

Thats hardly a banger, is it? It's crap, but it's not a banger.

I wonder if your choice of car is cause or effect of your dislike of driving..
