*** Red Alert 3 ***

yeah i wasnt over keen on the beta but im gonna get it anyway saw a lot of it played at i34 this year and it seemed to be ok, and i got to meet gemma atkinson which was a bonus :p

I love the RA games, but I don't agree with the DRM that EA are using, so I'm not going to buy it, simple as.
I'll certainly play it, plus since I rarely play RTS games online that won't be a problem.
So you take objection to the measures they use to protect the game against piracy by stealing it. Nice

I recall the first Red Alert and my Step son and I playing it together, getting all excited over which new unit we were going to discover next. This one though, is leaving me cold. Dont like the graphics and the ore is what the game was about. I will give this a miss.

COMMAND & CONQUER RED ALERT 3 GOES GOLD

The Most Anticipated Strategy Game of the Year Ships on October 28th for the PC.

After seven years, the wait is almost over. The return to the over-the-top, time-altered universe of Red Alert - where parachuting armored bears, George Takei, war dolphins and psionic Japanese school girls can co-exist without question - is almost here! EA Los Angeles is announcing today that Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 has gone gold for the PC and will ship to retail stores on October 28th, 2008.

Red Alert 3 brings back everything fans enjoy about the series, from the fast, fluid and fun gameplay, to the humorous tone and distinct art style, while adding new innovations for the entire genre including three separate campaigns designed for fully co-operative play and an unprecedented emphasis on naval gameplay. And it would not be a Red Alert game without live-action cinematics featuring the largest cast in the history of video games, starring in over an hour’s worth of high-definition movies, including the likes of Gemma Atkinson, Gina Carano, Randy Couture, Tim Curry, Kelly Hu, Jenny McCarthy, Jonathan Pryce, Autumn Reeser, J.K. Simmons, Peter Stormare, George Takei and more.

Aside from the standard edition of Red Alert 3, EA is also offering die-hard Red Alert and Command & Conquer fans the Red Alert 3 Premier Edition - a limited edition package that includes a bonus DVD with over an hour of exclusive content, including interviews with the cast and a behind the scenes look at the shooting of the game’s cinematic sequences. The Premier Edition is also packed full of additional Red Alert 3 goodness, including exclusive multiplayer maps, strategy tips from the development team, the official soundtrack and an exclusive beta key to a future Command & Conquer game. For fans of the series who want to reserve their version of the Premier Edition or regular edition now, EA is also offering the following special pre-order package:

- Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 - One of the most beloved RTS games of all time for FREE!
- From Fighter to Assassin - A featurette on EliteXC superstar, Gina Carano.
- Red Alert Retrospective - A look back at Command & Conquer Red Alert, Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 and Command & Conquer: Yuri’s Revenge
- Premier Edition Sneak Peek - Exclusive previews of Raising of the Iron Curtain, From Pens to Pixels, Command School, and BattleCast Primetime
- Exclusive multiplayer/skirmish map for Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 when the game ships
- Exclusive Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 desktop wallpapers

And as an additional bonus, everyone who purchases either the Premier Edition or regular version of Red Alert 3 will receive a “Women of Red Alert 3” poster and a redemption code for the Kossar’s Helm, an exclusive in-game item for EA and Mythic Entertainment’s critical hit Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Using this traditional Soviet hat turns your character into a bear - you don’t want to be seen rampaging through WAR’s capital cities without it!

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 is also shipping for the Xbox 360 on November 11th, 2008. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Why not just buy porn in that case?

Anyway.

Red Alert 3 and 2 are not successors to Red Alert. Well they are but in name only.

In all honesty CnC Generals is the most Red Alertish modern CNC game.

Im still buying Red Alert 3 though.

twas but a joke...

ANYWAY...

I personally don't like the direction they are taking the C&C universe especially with the design of the units. I know they got to mix things up to make it different from the last one but red alert in my mind has always been down earth normal tanks vs tanks, I don't want to see these supreme commander type walkers/super walkers. Maybe that's just me.

I love Red Alert and Supreme Commander, Win Win.
Also I'm loving the amount of effort they're putting into the cutscenes. The last C&C was great, but Red Alert in my opinion will always be superior, this'll be great =D

What's going to indicate a larger problem? Low sales, or low sales combined with a large number of torrent downloads?
If they patch out the DRM to something less stupid after a month or so then I'll be straight down the shops. Untill then, just think of it as them loaning it to me. I'll give it back eventually.

and giant squids, attack dolphins and mechanical spiders that can rip tanks apart? :p

Red Alert 3 is wicked. I played the beta and even thou it was limited to a few levels and most units I thought it was great fun.

Its shame about DRM and EA's seem less love for it. I mean I just think that when you buy a game that it should be your to install as many times as you like. I mean I used to love Max Payne and I must have installed that in the years on all my different machines about 30/40 times and that’s the way it should be. I get why they are trying to combat pirating but I just feel or hoped there was another way instead of turning a game affective into a license with a limit.

But still bring on the video scenes with Gemma Atkinson ....yehaaaa:D

I loved the original Red Alert, still play it loads, being my favourite game of all time. RA2 was ok, much better than Tiberian Sun, but still far weaker than Red Alert. The way that both RA1 and RA2 were build on their predecessing Tiberium games with improvements were making me look forward to RA3 after playing C&C3. I got the RA3 beta and initially hated it. Cartoonish graphics make it look awful, however after playing the beta a few times I grew to love it and thought I would definately be buying it, although I wish RA3 was more realistic, like RA1 was and not following the silliness of RA2, but nevermind. I was about to pre-order it, but then I heard about the DRM. FFS! DRM stopped me from buying SPORE, I hate the idea of limited installs and then having to ask EA for more installs. Looks like C&C3 was the end of my love affair with C&C. I think the way forward is a system similar to STEAM, with a good offline mode if there's no internet connection as this allows you to install the game on multiple PCs but only use it on one at a time. This limitation of installs is a stupid fight against piracy, I actually support any crackers who remove the DRM! If EA remove DRM, I'll buy it, if not then I might just turn to torrents... :p

I liked max payne so much I bought it twice. Once when it first came out, and then again on steam because my original discs didn't work on vista 64 :( Although it only cost about $5 on steam D:
