Breaking News / BBC : City restaurant blast - **Update**

He was clearly manipulated; the man is autistic, for crying out loud! He should be placed in an appropriate mental health institution, not a prison.

Within hours of the Exeter blast, officers took the unusual step of making a statement about the bomber to the bewildered people of Devon.

They explained that Reilly was a man with learning difficulties.

Deputy Chief Constable Tony Melville told reporters: "We believe he was preyed upon, radicalised and taken advantage of."

Beeb.

Institutionalise him by all means, but at least make sure it's for his own good as much as anyone else's.

indeed, however it may be the case he has to be monitored for the rest of his life, should he fall foul to this kind of manipulation again:(

his mum says he has a mental age of 10.
personally i feel sorry for the guy and his mum....i think the terrorists have hit an all time low using guys like him....and there was me thinking it wasnt possible to stoop any lower than they already had.

They do it all the time in the middle-east, usally picking on homeless kids or retards and radicalising them

What does 'radicalising' mean? What does it involve?

Twisting the core values of Islam or indeed any religion where some believe that death and carnage is the way forward and they preach this on impressionable people who swallow this and will do what is asked of them in the name of what cause they believe in.

The noun is the key to the verb.

No need to be obtuse: I hear the term a lot, without any real explanation of what makes these people go from being not-radical to radical. Something must happen to them. Surely you can't just tell people that there are 70 virgins waiting, and they'll become mass murderers?

Edit: thanks Von Smallhausen. I'm glad to say I've never met anyone that impressionable. Hope I never do.
