World Cup Qualifiers **spoilers and stuff**

We seemed really fired up for this game and had a good game plan to defend deep and hit them on the break, probably deserved something from the game but with out attacking options limited there wasn't much we could do. Looking forward to seeing Ramsey in the 1st team squad, he looked terific against England U21

Got to agree with that, I'm pleased with a 1-0 loss to the Germans. We played very well at times and looked quite threatening too. We created one or two good chances but nothing fantastic.

At most I was expecting a draw, but a 1-0 against much better opponents... can't really complain.

Really did think we would knick a late goal though :o

In a none offensive way, because I dont watch Walcott much, but does he have a bit of skill/trickery or does he just rely on knockin it past someone and running round? His crossing doesnt seem up to much

His crossing recently has been amazing, he's a lot, lot better player when he has a good RB behind him. Don't know what Wes Brown was playing at last night, very odd.

England still havn't impressed me.

Walcott isn't a first choice winger, we have no natural left footed winger, Stevie "god" Gerrard was poor last night, was cleary asked to play on the left and left if completely open. Lampard and Gerrard, pick one. not them both. Barry isn't as good as Owen Hargreaves. Heskey isn't international quality.
First half performance wasn't good, If we were playing a better team they'd have really hurt us.

thats a bit shocking to blame brown, its not his fault walcott is a defensive liability, when it comes to internationals you'v got to expect every player to be competent at defending tbh

Walcott played poorly, granted. But he's much more effective when he can push up the pitch and receive regular, good delivery from the man behind him, WB really didn't do anything to help Walcott in this respect.

I think out of the 2 WB played better, walcott did FA when it came to helping track back, and when he did he cocked it all up and let them through with naive mistakes.
I dont rate brown, but after that game I cant say he played worse than Walcott.

I don't think WB played badly, he did his defensive work relatively well, that's not my point! My point is that he didn't help going forward at all and that's what Walcott needs, as he's obviously not old/experienced/good enough to be able to excell without a little help from behind yet.

I think he got forward alright, when space opened up he got up. I just think walcott had an awful night, fair doos as hes still young.

Don't forget he's playing in a midfield with people such as Gerrard and Lampard, it must be quite daunting.

as opposed to playing in the knockout stages of the champions league against players such as themselves?
Or as playing in the same midfield as he does in training, or in previous games? :S

The midfield was **** again, i dont give a monkeys if Gerrard scored a screamer, they were getting bypassed every time Belarus had the ball

Gerrard and Carrick please, then drop the Scouse **** once Hargreaves is fit

I put it in the wrong thread, but Heskey really complemented Rooney last night. I'd keep him in the starting line-up now, definitely.

As for Walcott, yes he's been inconsistent, but we've shown in the last two games that we don't need to rely on him to get anything, so I don't see the need to lose faith and drop him after two average showings, unless SWP has an amazing next 6 months. Just sort the silly Gerrard/Lampard debate out first (the answer is Ashley Young on the left ;)).

Eboue, Song, Denilson. Big, experienced European hitters!

I just think it's a different kettle of fish playing amongst such amazing players, high expectations, mistakes are jumped upon etc. it must be a lot to handle.

Everybody likes playing with Heskey, the problem is when his strike partner isn't playing well and you're left relying on him for goals. I thought the 2nd half system (Heskey from the left and Gerrard central) worked really well and is a great way of using Heskey without having to rely too much on him as you've got another forward with Rooney.
