NEC LCD24WMGX3 Professional Gaming 24" Widescreen

Well peeps...looks like Apple has weighed into the fray with a 24" monitor...and it's LED backlit folks...

http://www.trustedreviews.com/displ...-Launches-First-LED-Backlit-Cinema-Display/p1

ok no HDMI ports (in a high spec display in 2008!!) but since I'm only really worried about DVI from my GTX 280 that's no biggie. Apparently it's being priced at £649 in the UK...no idea on the performance. LED backlight is promising though, shame I'm allergic to anything with an Apple logo after finding out how mediocre the sound quality the of iPods is - Apple are a triumph of marketing and style over substance...I think I'll be hanging onto my 20WGX2 till there are a few more LED backlit monitors on the market and see what other manufacturers come up with!

Will be interested to hear that review of the NEC from an actual buyer though!

display port only, mini aswell for which there are no adapters at this time.

WOW this screen is amazing. no dead/stuck pixels. out the box the colours look perfect. Just going to load some pictures in and do a input lag test.

Hi there

Glad your enjoying it, because I can truthfully and honestly say I've not seen a better quality monitor when it comes to image quality and features. :)

I have to aggree with Gibbo. This is an amzing monitor, should be at 620 quid right enough.

Okay i have done the input lag test average is 6.2ms. this seems rather low, i took 10 shots, should i take more?

Okay lads, i done it again with loads more flashes and my average is now: 13.68ms

Sorry about the quality of photos, my camera isnt the best

Cool. Inputlag seems fine
Was curious to know what made you jump on this monitor ?
What monitors have you previously owned ?

Is that mobilephone pictures :(
Would it be possible for you to perhaps borrow a real camera ?

Could you do some photos of the backlight bleed and blacklevel ?
make the room completely dark and load a black image fullscreen and do a photo without flash.

And please much bigger pictures. And please a couple of pictures with games, desktop or just anything. Just turn the bugger on :)

The layout for the multimedia inputs is very similar to what the NA version of the 20WMGX2 has.

Well apparently this monitor has component inputs unlike what the spec sheet said. Is that an S/PDIF input I'm seeing? Maybe it's an output or some kind of passthough? Hmm, interesting.

Sorry lads, will get a good camera tommorow and do a full review :)

Nightrhyme i have owned a 19" belinea lcd, and before that a CTX 19" CRT.

I just thought that there wasnt enough info on this monitor and decided to buy it to let everyone know how good it is.

As for the backlight, it is the most pefect black screen i have ever seen on a LCD. will post pics tomoz.

Sounds good domyboy ;)

Oh this monitor sounds very promising! The manual looks very complete and sophisticated. "Through Mode" sounds like an option to decrease input lag! Now please, please, please NEC, offer this monitor in the USA. (I called NEC and the customer support had no clue about this monitor.)

I emailed NEC and they also had no idea didn't know anything about the monitor. Check out the naive email response I got from them on page 3.

I still dont have a good camera, i got my sisters but it turns out it isnt much better than my phone :(

Anyway i took some photos of the backlight. I tried for ages to get the worst possible shot and this is what it looks like:

Looks like I'm stuck getting Hazro HZ24Wi with it's lame panel blocking backlight. I don't want wide gamut and I'm not spending a king's ransom on a NEC 2490Wuxi.

I assume you mean when and if Hazro really starts selling in the USA. Or do you know how to get a Hazro shipped to the US now?

Backlight looks nice and uniform.
Questions:
Text: How does text look ? Nice and crisp ? What if you enable cleartype. Still crisp ?
Darkdetail: Looking at this image (save it and fullscreen it): http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r205/nightrhyme/test.png?t=1224344295
How many of the squares can you see ? How low can you turn the brightness before it affects your abillity to see the same amount of squares ?
Gradients: Looking at this image (save it and fullscreen it): : http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r205/nightrhyme/gradient.png?t=1224344283 Do you see any banding ?

Thanx in advance.
Hope your enjoying your new screen. ;)

Text looks crisp and accurate, not sure what cleartype is lol?

I can see all the boxes on the first pic.

There is slight banding with the second pic but you really have to look up close to see it.

Im gonna ask a mate for a shot of his camera, its a belter so i will get better pics with it.
