Philistines! Clio Willys looks great! Besides, putting the looks aside they are widely regarded as one of the best hot-hatches ever made.
 
personally, id buy a tidy 205gti or a mk2 golf gti, then spend the rest on tidying it

in FACT!!!!! my mate has a mk2 with the 2.0 16v abf engine, gaz coilovers, leather recaros etc for sale with highly sexual wheels, for £2k. a complete finished car

Phase 1 172's are starting to come into this money I think, have you had a look at those?

However, something like a Mk1/Mk2 Golf GTi might tickle your fancy more maybe?

A decent S1 Rallye might take you a while to find though, otherwise fantasic little things.
 
VR6 sound great, go ok, drink fuel. I know 0-60 isn't everything but it's alright on these but it's when you're hitting third gear higher up the dials it really pulls quite well.
 
I'm sorely tempted by that Cav. I already know about Retro Rides, but where else can I look for stuff like that?
