*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Servers are not empty, but you have server that do not have many players on, they have said they will offer free transfers, from high to low priority servers.

Karek eight peaks is packed, but the 30 days will come to an end soon so I am sure we will see people leave.

It wasn't really my first choice but I wasn't bothered because I have no desire to go around killing much lower level guys or being killed by much higher and If I want a fair fight I know where to go.

I would still expect PvP in PvP zones, PvP is still popular on core servers as the amount of people in scenarios proves, It's just odd that they all seem to stay there.

open rvr isnt just getting ganked at low levels... it means youre in a big wide world and can get attacked by the enemy at any time without invisible comfort blankets in place. (a la UO pre trammel.. or close to)

my post was more directed at the "hardcore pvpers" in this thread who have rolled core and complain about the lack of open rvr!!!
they have rolled a pve server (or as close to as WAR gets to) and complain there isnt enough action outside scenarios..... seriously what the hell are you expecting?
"I ordered a steak and recieved a steak but actually want a chicken... where do i complain!!!"

Ive got the game today and will be playing on the Alanielle server!

Alarielle is a good server - plenty of keep assaults/defences and open battles outside of scenarios going on.
Just stick with it til tier 2 (aka you reach level 12 or so) and try and get into a decent guild. There are big guild alliances on both order and destruction and also a fairly active irc server going on. A good scrap is never too far away :)

I'm on Karak Eight Peaks.

I must be dwarves, hardly see a sole, no matter what time of day.

That's swinging to extremes there, the pve servers still have huge rvr areas, is it so unreasonable to expect there to be anyone there? Core never presents itself as being "pvp in scenarios only", so people are rolling on what should be the right servers, and discovering that the game doesn't work as intended.

Not sure if this is server wide, but on mine most people (both order and destruction regardless of race) tend to congregate in the Empire / Chaos zones. Whenever I've ventured to the elf place I've not seen anyone and not too many in greenskin
/orc either (which is a shame as those areas are awesome).

Yeah fair enough I'd not thought of it from that perspective, though I'm still surprised anyone who considers themselves an oldschool pvper to roll anything other than open.

I must say I'm really enjoying it sofar. Decided to slow it down a little and not try to rush through the levels, as afterall I can PvP from the off so no need to level like a madman :)

Oldschool and hardcore are words of your choosing, I'm just a guy who plays games. A core server seemed to offer the best balance. I realise that PvP servers aren't all about ganking but it does happen and it's a pain. I'd rather have a fair PvP fight when I decided I wanted one.

RvR open zones, safe PvE zones and scenarios and yet people still only seem to do scenarios.

It also feels like half day closing all the time at Altdorf.

The ease at which you can enter a scenario initially seemed like a really good idea, I suppose when you can get 13000XP in an 8 min scenario it is a little pointless questing for an hour or so to get 2500XP.

I think what they should have done is allow you to enter scenarios in any area where you had maxed out your influence. This wouldn't make it difficult to enter scenarios, it would merely make people seek out public quests so that they could enter scenarios in convenient zones. Stick a few PQs in RvR zones and you would have action going on everywhere.

2500xp? at lvl 33 on a really good win with total ownage and max points i get around 23k (if i be lame and go solo more like 30-40k)

killing a single mob of around lvl 33-35 nets me over 500exp for the kill i bet iof you grind you can easily get more exp in the time a scenario takes but its just so boring.

That was more of a generalisation than specifically aimed at you (as I dont recall you complaining about the lack of pvp on core servers).

Who mentioned level 33? I was talking more about level 20ish. At that level most quests give around 2500XP , some of them are brief admittedly but some take a while. You cannot get 13000XP from questing in 8 minutes at the levels I'm talking about. I'm assuming the same is true of higher tiers, If not, great but I've just hit tier 3 and the story seems the same. Average 3500XP per quest and 15000XP in a scenario.

What class has everyone rolled as I had real difficulty deciding which to have as my main as they all have something about them that quite appealing.

Decided on a Squig Herder in the end :)

marauder is my main (at 34 atm) but I also have a sorc/black orc and a shammy.

They all play quite differently so when I'm tired of my main, I jump on an alt and burn though all the rested xp I've been getting ;]

Ah nice, roid.

My SH is only level 15 at the moment, but really enjoying it. Started with a Shaman, but got that to level 10 and didn't want to continue with it.

squig herders get some insane Armour debuffs at higher levels, so there is something to look forward too ;]

Plus from a distance you look a bit like a shammy, so they might focus fire you a little :D

I've rolled a Swordmaster, really loving it in PvP atm.

I had a Warrior priest before this, and found it really boring and they really don't deal much damage.

Are SM any good at high levels? Any advantages?

Interesting comments above.

Im level 19 Runepriest at the moment and have fell into the Scenario trap also. I made an effort to complete every quest in my book, but a few problems arose a couple of levels back:

a) The travelling Vs. Reward wasn't worth it
b) Getting groups together is impossible, as a healer, soloing is eye-wateringly painful
c) The rewards such as armour, etc is inferior to what i can buy from Auctioneer/Reknown merchants.

Scenario's are fun, action-packed, occasionally tactical. I am very motivated by the leaderboard, getting rewarded for my healing. If my side win and i concentrate, usually get 9-11k xp. Side lose and it's a quick game it's 5-8k xp.

I also get reknown points with this, so my Reknown Rank is currently almost 18, when my normal rank is just 19.

Do my share of keep raids though. Yesterday was a classic example of what you must do:

Firstly, get a PvE group together and start attacking a keep, just the NPC's outside. Then, people see it's under attack, slowly join your group. You then find the enemy appearing inside the keep attacking you. You tell others there's enemy players there, more join; likewise for their side. Result = You get a full raid. (Then lose in my case)

Besides that yes, very quiet and without a guild or good active friends list, this game would be very lonely. Years of grind mentality taking it's toll, making friends ain't on the list anymore. Though, if like me, you can get a guild who are similar levels, with similar playtimes and free time as you, it becomes somewhat better.
