Core i7 LAUNCH CONFIRMED: 16/11

As i see, its not going to give any worse performance, just not a huge increase. It is a sign that Intel got everything they could out of C2D and are looking for a more advanced CPU, even if some of the new stuff is only just matching what AMD already has. For those people who jumped on board to C2D early, this is a worthy upgrade, but most other people i sure will buy a cheap C2D setup until the prices come down

the c2d in speed, and performance have always kicked amd down !, i'am I wrong?

I can't see any compelling reason to change my Q6600. As well as the odd game, I use Photoshop and Lightroom, as well Premiere Pro. Now that Photoshop CS4 can use the graphics card for processing, the need to upgrade is even less.

I'd be more inclined to try and find a cheaper Q9450 or 9550 once Nehalem hopefully pushes their prices down a little. No need to replace the mobo and RAM that way, and I can keep the major system change on ice until Windows 7 is out.

Nah I'm not 100% convinced by these i7's yet, i really do want to see some legitimate benches/reviews and how well they overclock as at the moment there is conflicting opinions regarding the overclockability of the processors. Not long now though.
