anyone still got the piccies of the spider carrying its egg ball (or whatever the correct term is) across a carpet?

Nope.

Friend of mine took a picture, will try and get it off her - Just looked like a regular spider, with a sort of 'shell' thing on its back. Very small though.

A cranefly is a jimmy spinner. A daddy longlegs is as you have pictured.

They are not one and the same.

We must have had a colony of daddy longlegs as I was growing up, cos they were all over the big stone walls we had in the playground at school.

Some of the things done to those spiders! Eurgh.

We get them in the toilets at work too i never thought that they were unusual?? But the furthest place we got shipments from was Israel though...

. I think it just depends where you are from. A crane fly has always had the 'slang' name of Daddy Long Legs round my parts.
