'FIA unhappy with Brundle's BBC move'

And I'd hope we'd have got rid of the idiot when the BBC took over. Oh well I watch most races on fast forward as they are boring so I don't have to listen to the washed up has been.

I still don't see how it's Bernie's fault that the governing body have done their level best to completely screw the sport up. If they hadn't made rule changes that have created cars that can't follow each other any closer than six miles, and didn't make bat-**** retarded decisions about on-track incidents, and didn't have a leader that likes to engage in extra-marital whipping sessions with prostitutes then it wouldn't matter where the sport went - it'd still be great to watch all the time. But because the FIA has done everything in its power to tear down this sport and replace it with a nice, cheap spec-racing series then it doesn't matter whether F1 goes to new lands or stays put at the European old guard tracks.

Blame Max, not Bernie.

Um... why do the FIA even have an opinion, and why do we care?

F1 is broadcast in countless countries with countless TV and Radio comentators. Why should the BBC employing one person be of any concern to the FIA? Do the FIA even have any say over broadcasting? Isnt that the relm of the FOM?

We get your TV coverage with your comentators down here. :)

Hey, they're willing to pay the money for the show. It's not their problem if the rest of the world is too tight to pay for it.

***edit***

Don't misunderstand me, though. I would much rather see racing in Europe than yet another TilkeDrome in some far off land. But I'd also like to see F1 go to Watkins Glen (in the USA). And Mosport (in Canada). And Paul Ricard (instead of Magny-Cours for all those tedious years). And Estoril, and the Hockenheim we had before they let Tilke loose on the place, and Donny Park.

You forgot to mention Melborne back to adelaide:eek::(

I did, which was unforgivable. Adelaide is a great track. And hey, with the recent move towards street circuits maybe an Adelaide resurrection is more of a possibility now than it was a few years ago.

I hope we get it back.

Down in Adelaide we have no International Motorsport evens like this anymore:(

What difference does that make? Or was it just a statement. ;)

Just a statement:p

But it isn't the pinnacle of motorsport any more

I agree it's stupidly dumbed down at times, but what is the pinnacle of motorsport these days?

Just a genuine question, there must be some motorsport that has survived relatively unscathed that is interesting to watch..

I think as far as action goes, Moto GP has an excellent mix of technology/overtaking/action

heheh that always make me laugh, especially when Martin tries to ignore the people, and Bernie manhandles him round!

Did not Martin used to manage Daveyboy C? I'm sure I recall martin mentioning it several years ago. If I'm wrong I'll be ever so annoyed.

Yup, still does I think; apparently they have had a few "angry moments" over it due to MB calling DC's driving in his usual honest manner :p

The pinnacle of motorsport is still F1 from a technology point of view.

Don't see why its such a shock (if true) that the FIA or more specifically Max Mosely wants Brundle off the TV. He's had words a few words with Bernie Ecclestone in the past too. I would have been more surprised if nothing had been done to attempt to stop Brundle having airtime.

Personally, I think it would be crime not to have him but it wouldn't surprise me if BBC are put under pressure.

Would the Le Mans Prototypes not run F1 pretty close in that respect?

And at any rate - the Williams FW14B and FW15C are still probably the high point for technology in F1. And for motorsport as a whole, look back at some of the utterly insane stuff that used to run in the DTM....

Worked on Le Mans cars in the past, Audi and Peugeot as well as Lola LMP2 cars.

F1 is far more advanced.

Oh yeah, 96-97 DTM/ITC kit made the FW15C look pretty tame. Active ballast anyone???

The best thing about them was all three manufacturers were blatently cheating the whole time. I think it was Opel that got caught using a fully auto gearbox by an onboard camera. Mercedes tried to protest it but Alfa's response was along the lines of "err we've got one of those too" so Merc just flipped a switch on their semi auto and enabled full auto mode :)

Well if the FIA don't like Brundle, I hate to think what they're going to be saying about DC after the first few races :)

The pair of them tell it as it is, with no sugar coating or politics involved.

Wooooow there boy, hold your horses.

I never said Bernie was screwing the sport. The FIA are doing a fine job on their own. What im saying is that Bernie is taking the sport where the money is, which would be fine, except he is also trying to say that F1 needs to be about the fans.

If he wants to secure the sport by going where the money is, thats fine, but he should just stop trying to tell me hes doing it for the fans. Boring street tracks in far off places with premium hospitality for corporate guests is not my idea of 'doing it for the fans'.

Im not complaining about what hes doing, im complaining about what hes saying about what hes doing.
