Today I have been mainly playing........Bioshock

I THINK Bioshock is rubbish. See I just did!

I am pleased you liked it. I'm just saying I found it rubbish. I don't care if know one agrees with me or not. I don't need to produce "evidence" anyway how can I, im voicing my opinion!

You could at least expand on your point a bit - say what in particular you found was rubbish (which would be evidence as to why you think it's rubbish).

Though drunkemaster's post is rather long-winded and whether or not I agree with what he's saying, the post has far more point to it than "I think it's rubbish", which just sounds like a petulant child moaning about not being allowed an ice cream.

To be fair it just sounded like he didn't like it to me.

But it's a discussion about the game - surely a poster could at least say what they thought was wrong with it?

If everyone just posted "I like it" and "I don't like it" we may as well just disable posts and turn the thread into a poll.

Loved Bioshock and replaying it a 2nd time now, one of the best stories ever and the scripted bits are just awesome... The gameplay itself is average but the feel you get from being in the world and listening to that ages old music, it's just great... Imo it's on par if not better than HL2... Never played system shocks...

Don't really agree with drunkenmaster, replaying it on hard and it's very tough, regularly run out of ammo for several guns ( hate that) and i have died on occasion... The graphics ARE superb imo way after the opening scenes, I really enjoy the graphics and I don't understand why anyone shouldn't, low res textures? I didn't really notice, usually don't care much about textures I like lightning, effects, shadows, reflections, etc... I just can't see his problem about the difficulty, I find it more than difficult to play through, I don't get enough ammo, stuff, etc... I do have enough enermys, enough plasmids and I like being able to buy a few things, I HATE games where I have to use stuff sparingly like stalker, couldn't stand looking for guns & ammo for too long, I just like spraying bullets without worrying about it running out...

I'm hardly a child, I just think its rubbish. Life's to short for me to get philosophical about the merits of a particular game.

I just think its rubbish.

You obviously take games very seriously so I apologies if I offended you with my opinion.

I didnt like anything about it....

It had some great elements, let down by some very poor elements.

Sound, music were all absolutely top notch, graphics were above average, setting was beautiful.

Linearity was fail, story was crap (bar the twist), ending was terrible, 'choice' was non existent.

Best game i have played in ages, the best thing about it was the voice acting imo, it was superb! It's most probably the single game i would count that had fantastic voice acting, that and HL2.

I wouldn't say I take games particularly seriously, but I do find pointless posts pretty irritating, so apology accepted.

After finishing Half life 2 + the episodes and Far Cry I must admit I was a little dissapointed with Bioshock,it just did'nt make me want to play on for hours like Half life 2 or Far Cry.
Waiting for Far Cry 2 now,,,hope that does'nt let me down!!!!!

Never played Far Cry but I did play HL2 and finished it on day of release after a 12 hour sitting ;) and tbh I thought it was the best and worst game of the year. There is no denying HL2's greatness, it is a great game but in no way is it perfect. And im sorry if people dont get this but it felt like a console game to me which is one of the reasons I felt it was the worst game of the year. Only console games FORCE you to use Certain weapons to kill Certain monsters and HL2 fell victim to this in such a bad way - Having to kill striders with rockes only was utter pants. I remember watching all the Videos prior to release and loving the Strider sequence outside the cinema (Which together with other elements were stripped out of the final release) And the ending, Oh the ending, Woefuly abismal. Up untill HL2's ending I thought MoHAA's ending was bad but this took the biscuit.

And Im sorry but a game that stretches itself out with vast expanses of drivable terrain with nothing to do Is only trying to hide what is essentialy a short game, Take both driving ellements out and you left with a verry small game. If only Ravenhome was a stand alone game ;)

I finished Bioshock but really I felt like a whole lot of it dragged.

The starting was great but then you’re pushed into a world with never ending repetitive spawning enemies. The atmosphere / scenery of the game are begging to be explored but most of the time I dashed through everywhere because there were too many enemies and it all got a little boring. Not to sound “PC ELITIST” (I played it on the 360) but it felt like it was dumbed down for console users who can’t go more than 20 seconds without shooting something (sweeping generalisation of course ;)).

The enemies became incredibly boring after a while, I was begging for some variation to shooting the same thing over, and over, and over, and over.

It’s not a bad game, but it isn’t a good game either in my books, worth picking up cheaply but I don’t think I’d play it again.

Yet no one asks for justification when it's "OMG IT'S A GREAT GAME!!!! I love it!". It's just as acceptable for someone to think something is rubbish than it is for someone to say how much they love it, you're only targetting him because you personally disagree with him, since you didn't jump on rainbow6six's back about his unjustified "it's a great game!" opinion.

To be honest, I think having a negative view about something generally requires more explanation than having a positive view about it. That's not really just on forums, but probably a general 'life' thing.

I'll fully agree that BS had its flaws (hence not arguing with drunkenmaster's post) - but I really wish people would give a bit more detail when they slate a game.

I really wanted to like this game. I liked the design and presentation, the story the music the voice acting, it all looked promising, but I found the actual gameplay boring. I kind of expected this because I could never get into SS2 or Deus Ex etc. Never been a fan of fps games that incorporate rpg elements (although I do like rpg's) I just dont have the patience. Chucking in mini-hacking games and farting about with different ammo types for different enemies just seems like a cheap way to slow down the pace. I can see why some people would enjoy it though. Just not for me.

I've played the demo, and it didn't really apeal to me, but i had a sudden urge to give it another go. Got my friends copy on my desk at the moment, will install it later :)

Need to give it another chance :)

Interesting argument, but I prefer the original posting... and that use of 'know one'!

I'm still joking.

It's really good in parts and quite tedious in others - I can't really disagree with some of the negative things people have said about it but there are also parts of the game that are really enjoyable and quite novel. And the atmosphere, mood and backstory are all (mostly) great.
