Vista cant see you!!

After just finishing my first self built rig, I've managed to find a buyer for my old pc. I've taken the Samsung Sata drive from it and have used as a 3rd drive in the new pc.

However when I come to install Vista on the old pc and get it ready for the new owner, I get to the point when Vista asks where it should install itself......and informs me that I have no HD available to install to.

The MB is a ASUS A7V-MX and the HD is an IDE Maxtor 6L300.

The HD is found in the BIOS, new cables are used, jumpers configured correctly, so I cant think of anything I've done wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that's the correct mobo model? Asus don't have an A7V-MX listed.

A7V-MX is a Foxcomm motherboard so as stewart says, are you sure it's the correct motherboard? You may have a Foxcomm or a different ASUS model.

Has the drive been used before? It's not got a dynamic disk or anything bizarre on it?

Yes the drive has been used before, and nope nothing strange on it. It's been formatted.

Hmmmm, ok you're stretching my knowledge now lol, I dont think so, it's the only IDE drive in the pc, the DVDR is a SATA drive.........if you meant anything else I have no idea.
