British Bullet

Next to the current ones :). Funny this news was anounced today i was telling my sister how my train journey today would be so much faster if it wasnt for the nesbitt Stephenson.

How do you plan we widen all bridges and stations up and down the country without bankrupting ourselves, that is the million dollar question.

Do we really need trains that equal the speed of places like Japan? Its not like our country is that big, if it was that fast it would hardly ever reach top speed before having to make the next stop.

Exactly, I'd prefer double-decker trains like they have in Italy with the ultimate aim of actually getting a seat on a peak-time train into London from a station 60 miles out

Or being able to get a seat on the London-Glasgow train on a Friday afternoon without having to book it first (and without arguing with the drunk 'wegian about him sitting in my seat  )

**** it organize a giant buss service, for most places and large car pool incentives (ie 3-4 in a car bbuslanes, and no congestion charges. So peopel can still get to work.

Pre make all the track and get it laid out (if thats easier) along the length then ry and get it done off peak times, and work slowly up the track replacing it. Still going to cause disruption but meh should onyl be for short bursts (ie weekends/nights)

What about bridges and tunnels/

No swearing

Because it's for commuters not international travelers. Hopefully should be able to use the new trains with a standard ticket.

But the Eurostar stops at these stations too, so I don't see the point...

It will probably be much more expensive than the Eurostar too

You cant travel on Eurostar from Kent into London and vice versa. The Javelins will be doing the commuter bits from Kent and will then be straight on HS1 up to London which skips out all the congestion around South London.

There will be a premium for getting on the high speed trains compared to the 'slow' ones - if the rumours are true then +25% on the normal ticket price

This is gonna be such an epic fail. It will be released atleast 5 years late, cost millions of pounds more than first predicted and the trains will actually be gold plated deloreans powered by steam-engines. Furthermore with other trains using these lines, how often do you think these trains will actually have the chance to use their near-maximum speed? Im sorry to sound bitter but without rebuilding the infrastructure, high-speed trains sound more like a dream than a reality.

Bad monday morning ? :p

Should be good, but they will become overcrowded with all the commuters wanting to be on the fastest route into the capital as possible. Leaves seats for us mere mortals on the slow trains :D

Nice rolling stock though, plus will be going to stratford so quite useful for those trips in to see the olympics.
