Any tips going from a Diesel to a petrol?

Is sitting on a hill with the clutch slipping really bad for a car? I did this with my first car, but sold it on after a year so don't think I saw the results

Yeah i got used to it after a few weeks and a bit of practice :D.

Bit of an epic bump there celliott :D, what were you searching for?

It will wear out quite quickly.

Why would you want to sit there balancing the clutch any way? It is much easier to just put the hand brake on?

I don't get why people do this, a bit like stopping at traffic lights and sitting there with the foot brake on for a couple of minutes.

I dont get what's so hard, the same principles apply.

I was learning all the time in Corsa Diesels, i then find out that my instructor will be out of the country when i will take my test so i had to use someone else but they had a petrol corsa. I noticed the difference straight away but it was easy enough to adapt. All you need is slightly more revs and be a bit smoother with the clutch. Slipping the clutch when trying to park is ok as it will only be for a short period. Sitting on a hill holding the car with the clutch is a very bad idea and a bad habit that my instructor taught me but i snapped out of that quickly enough when i got my own car.

To be fair my car is really easy to stall. Everyone who's driven it has stalled it and commented that its easy to stall. I'm not sure if the clutch needs adjusting or what but the biting point is really high. Well compared to other cars Ive driven.

Id passed my test then waited a few months before getting a car so was just after some pointers really as i kept stalling all the time.

I found i just wasn't giving it enough revvs when setting off being used to a diesel. After a couple of weeks i was used to it and now its rare that i stall it.

I still much prefer the biting point further down though. I drove my mates Civic type R and the bite was really low, felt much better than mine.

Been told that I'll find it much easier to stall the mini than the Diesel Corolla I'm learning in... looking foward to trying that out :p
