January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Rumours of Defoe coming back to Spurs is an interesting one. Will be interesting to see what happens in January on that front, it seemed he really liked the club and don't see why he would have any objections if he was made the right promises by Redknapp.
Apparently there's a league rule that states a player cannot be sold and then bought back by a club within 12 months.

Apperantly there's a league rule that states a player cannot be sold and then bought back by a club within 12 months.

I read somewhere that the rule wouldn't apply in this case, as it's designed to stop abuse of the system, which this isn't. I'll have a look for the source....

to be fair to fletcher he has scored in three games this season - accordingly gaining Utd four points (a win, 1-0 against Pompey, and two draws)

Ok admittedly we dont know who would have scored what if Fletcher hadnt played

Admittedly he isnt anywhere near my favourite central midfielder (actually 5th favourite after Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes, Anderson)

Cant imagine who would have played in his place in the last few weeks with the majority of our midfield not available

cisse to sign a permanent deal at sunderland and I think Keane will bring in a proven central defender to partner Ferdinand...and a lot of the dead wood on the way to the championship

I've also read something similar. Also, Pompey haven't paid us fully for Defoe yet and the remaining payment is due so was written somewhere that the rule wouldn't apply if this was the case and we were able to get him back because Portsmouth couldn't pay his full fee.

All paper talk though so not sure what truth is in it. Apparently also, Harry wants Crouch, Distin and Diarra to complete his new looks Spurs side.

Delph is still very young, he needs "protecting" I suppose, probably why he didn't start those games.

Showunmi is alright, he's like Kandol, so strong and can win headers all day, but better, that's why we bought him so he can play along side Beckford.

I'd love it if we were interested in Lambert but I suspect loads of other clubs are too.

I was speaking with one of the GK coaches at Leeds the other week about Delph and they are desperate to keep hold of him. By all accounts he is an exceptional player and his attitude in training is absolutley spot on. I think if McAllister can convince him to stay and Leeds get up to the Championship then you will have a really good chance to keep hold of him and buils a team around him.

would like Defoe and Diarra and possibly Distin if we cant get someone else but no Crouch please

also it seems Harry doesn't rate Dawson :D

Comolli gone and now hopefully Dawson

if it meant us sitting bottom of the league with 2 points to get the ball rolling and getting rid of these 2 wastes of space then it was worth it

After hearing Kinnear's interview this week and after hearing Wise is still looking for new players I reckon Ashley is looking to stay on.

It sounds as if we might actually sign a few players, although this will probably be done by selling others. Owen? Hope not. :(

"Me and Dennis have traded names. We saw the French Under-21s – we put three players down from that game – we put two players down at a German club. I think he’s shooting around looking at various teams."

Sounds promising.

I am a Newcastle fan not as die hard as I should be but still, as much as I love to see Owen at Newcastle he is nearly always injured! End up playing majority of the season without him! Yes he can play when hes fit but it appears to be a rare occasion.

Owen helps attract other players as well though. Gutierrez said in an interview one of the reasons he came to Newcastle was Owen, I'm sure it's the same for other players.

more rumours of Arsenal going for Delph but loaning him back till next year. I couldn't give a monkeys, frankly our whole midfield is capable attacking midfielders who at a push can play left/centre/right. We have an entire reserve team with attacking midfielder after attacking midfielder. We massively need defensive players, other than one midly defensive new player in the reserves who as it happens is good going forward and has already scored a few we've got nothing for the future aswell as nothing right now in terms of Def midfielders.

So logic dictates we'll be linked with every defensive midfielder going and need/hope we buy minimum of two players who are capable of first team football right now. Knowing Wenger there is almost no chance we'll buy anyone we need, not to mention the fact that there isn't a single club in the world thats no aware of how utterly desparate we are for a defensive midfielder right now so chances of a bargain are almost non existant.

Again knowing Wenger and his stupidity of late, we'll probably offer 10-15mil for Diarra.
