BBC Issue apology over Ross/Brand 'Prank'

He had agreed to give them an interview. When he agreed to an interview he would have known exactly the kind of things that Brand and Ross come out with and should have known to expect crude remarks. In a very real way by agreeing to do the interview he was almost asking for comments about his granddaughter - everyone well knows she's not exactly all peaches and light. Have you actually listened to the broadcast in question to understand the remarks' context?

BS sorry

Yes I have listened to it on youtube.

According to the news lastnight they appear to have breached the rules of use of using the phone network with lewd comments, made even worse by the fact they were then stupid enough to leave a recorded message to colloborate the radio show. I hope Ofcom screw them, I also hope that the grand-daughter reports it to the police too.

BBC's ineptness to take ownership of the problem in taking 9 days to make a formal statement is nothing less than pathetic, and a level of PR/customer service that doesn't even register on any scale.

Brand's arrogance in front of the cameras when leaving his home typifies the jerk that he his.

All the talk of saying there are more important things to worry about, or that Sachs should have been aware or that somehow his grand-daughters background with the group etc....... should be irrelevant

How embarrassing. For the country. A complete non issue being blown out of all proportions.

Most of the people saying they should be sacked etc are people that don't actually like them at all regardless of what they've done. If the BBC were to sack Ross he'd just go and get paid more elsewhere whilst the BBC would be left with what... nothing. Same with Brand. Its so embarrassing for this country that this issue is STILL in the news. Didn't the incident occur last week? Yet only now its being made an issue. Dear me.

Why is such a non issue getting so much airtime? And the girl in question is now selling her story to the Sun...

I would rather have nothing then pay for them to be "comedians" Ross is passed it, he has no material bar swearing and being crewd he is a posh Chubby Brown.

Reason why its still in the news because we have the right to complain, why not make a issue out of it.

Why bother though? The show itself garnered a massive 2 complaints for a week after it was aired and those were for bad language. It wasn't until the media got hold of it that "outraged of Tunbridge Wells" suddenly felt the need to complain about a show they didn't even listen to. Score one for faux outrage and zero for common sense.

God bless the intelligence of YouTube commenters:

Wow, i have no idea what that person is talking about. Since when did anyones granddad die?

This is the problem with the general public and baying for blood on this sort of non-issue. It was regrettable, they've been reprimended, end of issue.

But no, lets slap it over the papers for weeks, exagerate everything and sell stories to tabloid newspapers

It seems like *** media got bored of 'OMG SHARES CRASHING, FTSE DOWNFALL', and have now picked up on this. Even the PM is getting involved.

Funny but well out of order, from ross especially for starting it, but both of them for carrying on. They have apologised directly and that should be the end it. Now it's all about selling the story to the papers, and claiming horrific mental scarring.

The BBC since Reithian days is to Educate,Entertain and Inform.

This crap was none of the above.

Why should the Licence fee payer support and fund this crap?

Thats the point.
