Hi, can you guys recommend a nice easy to apply long lasting wax for my E60 please? I've seen Collinite 476 and will probably give that a stab unless you guys have other alternatives. thanks

Collinite is definately up there in terms of durability. It is also rather easy to apply also, I usually apply it to the entire car and let it stand for 5-10 minutes and buff off the panels that has wax on it the longest first, it comes off really easily with a microfibre cloth.

Which Collinite version should I get?

What colour is your car?

476S is fine for any car but 915 is more suited to darker coloured cars, especially with metallic paint.

Although the Collinite waxes have frankly awesome longevity which is good for winter, the finish is crap compared to other waxes. It still gives a wet looking shine but if you have metallic paint, the sparkle in it just doesn't "pop" at all. I previously had Chemical Guys 53 and XXX on my car and the way they brought out the colour of the paint was stunning. When I put Collinite on about a month ago, the colour looks very flat in comparison.

I'm sticking with Collinite 915 over the winter though. It's much more suited to the weather.

Does longevity bother you at all? What is your budget?

I highly recommend Chemical Guys Petes 53 Carnauba. It's designed specifically for darker cars and it certainly shows. I seen a whole new side of my paintwork when I applied it to my car, it absolutely blew me away! It gives significantly better results than any of the Collinite range in this respect.

It'll last about a month before it needs another coat so as long as you dont mind doing it once a month it sounds like it will suit you fine. It lasts longer than most other waxes for the same price, apart from the Collinites of course. A tub should last you for at least a year if you apply once a month.

Here it is - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/chemical-guys-pete-39-s-53-paste-wax/prod_337.html

I highly recommend that company too, their customer service is second to none.

Great, thanks. How do you apply and what do you use to remove. How long do you leave it too? I can handle once a month.

For optimum results you need to wash the car and give it a rub down with a clay bar to remove any surface contaminants. After this, if you havent polished the car, giving it a polish will give even better results. Something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish is a good hand polish.

Once the surface is polished, apply the wax with a soft foam wax applicator pad in circular motions. Let it sit on the car for a short while (I normally leave it 20-30 mins) then buff it off with a microfibre cloth. You can give it more than one coat if you feel like it for added protection.

You don't *need* to apply it on a monthly basis as it provides protection for much longer but it looks better with a monthly top up.

I did mine like this guy ('pjgh') said from cleanyourcar forums :

Minor detail

1. Wash
2. Car-Lack68 NSC (this will strip off the waxes, sealants and clean/cleanse the paint again ... ready to the good products)
3. Poorboys Black Hole
4. Sealant (one of the Poorboys, or Chemical Guys maybe?)
5. Collinite 476S

Worked nice on my black car!

Then i just top it up now and again after washing with http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...Meguiar's Quik Detailer: Mist and Wipe (473ml)
