Found the problem. Seems like a few others are having the same problem. Hardware acceleration needs turning down to 1 notch below max when using Creative Audigy cards.

You could check that your northbridge isnt overheating, what motherboard have you got?

Starting to enjoy the game properly now (save the long tedious journeys), I like that I can do a few different things to suceed in objectives... if I have to blow something up I'll rocket launch it from higher ground, rather than go in and IEM it.

IEMs however are brilliant fun. Easy way to get past any little camp is to just drop one and run off

Cheers man, got it now!

Had just downloaded those drivers.

Basically, before I couldn't use SLI, so updated my drivers to enable that - then Far Cry got stuck on the loading screen.

Uninstall/reinstall didn't help, couldn't get any working drivers anywhere.... 8700m is a nightmare card to get new drivers for!

I like this game. Im about 14% complete now. Main things i dislike about it is having to hold a map whilst driving. By doing this, im not taking notice of the gps diamond tracker. Just too much driving in this game.

Got to the next "act" in the game tonight, and it is so much better now. Finally some of the missions are more than just "blow up this truck" or "kill this man".

Shame the AI is still retarded, though.

Infiltrated a base and two guys ran in front of where I was hiding and stood there. They looked like they were there to help lol. Popped their heads of course. Was doing a weapon mission to blow up a truck I was about a mile from it and suddenly it said mission accomplished?!

I was about to post something similar, last night I had a guy shooting at me from the other side of a tree and his mate came steaming in with a jeep and ran him over, brilliant!
