Oh great

well yes, brake fluid doesn't just dissapear so unless all of your pads are worn to the metal then you have a leak. Either way it needs to be checked out, brake failure is no joke.

Thanks what im thinking but the brake pipes got replaced during the MOT 6 months ago and i never had any probs with the brakes before that, also the brake pads are failry new as well as far as i know. I'm going to check the previous documentation i got with the car later to see what work got carried out before i got the car.

Is it really bad to warm up your car, I thought that was really good for it, I sometimes do and sometimes dont - but it always drives nicer from the off when I do!

You shouldn't rev it hard when not up to temperature but neither should you leave it idling.

indeed, it will take a lot longer to reach operating temperature sitting idling than with some load on it. The choke setting on mine is almost silly, 2000rpm idle from a cold start, mitsubishi say it helps warm it up quicker. All I know is I can drive all the way down my street at 30mph in 3rd with no feet, means you can pay more attention on setting the heater, radio and seatbelt ;)

Clarkey your right... I have got a brake leak lol as i was about to get into the car this morning i noticed a small puddle of liquid around the back tyre on my side of the car, ooohh s*** i thought and i was hoping it might of been one of the cats around that might of peed on my car lol but i had to check the brake fluid when i got to work and unfortunately to my suspicions the brake fluid has gone down to the low mark again! :( Rang the garage this morning and taking the car in tomorrow to have a look at & replace the part or parts that is causing the leak. I hope that the brakes can last untill i get back home tonight!!!

It's pretty risky driving the car to be honest. I mean if the leak worsened you would lose almost all breaking.

Yeah you are right, not all of the fluid is gone though its still around 2mm from the danger line as i said before and i had the brake fluid topped up 2 days ago.

As you've got drum brakes on the rear it will quite likely be a slave cylinder that has gone rusty and the seals have failed. This is fairly cheap to buy (BrakesInt show £12+vat) and shouldn't take long to fit either. However, you will probably need a new set of brake shoes fitted as well as they tend to get soaked in fluid.

Only if its on the road... If its on your drive or private car park then its not.

But it is also very stupid to leave your car on and unattended. If someone decides to jump into your car and speed off in it....you're insurance won't cover you AFAIK.

If the engine is left idling from cold it won't warm up anything like as fast as if you are driving it. Cold engines use more fuel, suffer from more wear and tend to build up carbon deposits more quickly. There really is no need to leave an engine idling to warm it up.
