I'm i the only one who finds cod4 over rated. I think the mulitplayer is borring, constant grenade spam and spraying and praying. The graphics allthough good when they came out allready look very dated. I played it a bit when it first came out but i dont even feel the need to play it any more. I had a qwick bash on it today and got bored after 5 mins. I properly enjoyed the single player game more then the online play.

Looks like the new one will be more of the same just in a differant setting, i dont think they have captured the same magic the first cod and uo had.

Comparing it to TF2 which i bought around the same time still gets hours of play.

The COD series is quickly dying..., the games just need extensive modding in order to be viable for competitive play.

Most of us miss the days of COD and UO :(

Nope, love spraying bullets, I avoid too large servers though, 6v6 is best imo on most maps :).

TF2 on the other hand starts to bore me, you are too dependant on your team and the balance isn't perfect imo, demomans are overpowered I think.... If you get in the losing then then you lose too... In Cod4 it's mostly the same I agree, but less, you can still make something of yourself and get a >1:1 kdr in the losing team.

I have other games that are other a year old. That stand the test of time well. Dirt is a good example, sill looks amazing, tf2 is coming up to a year old surely i dont think the tf2 graphics or gameplay will ever get old. I still play quake 3 and that game is nearly 10 years old.

I just dont think cod 4 is the awesome game a lot of people make it out to be. I miss the maps on the first cod's they had a good mix of sniping/rifle type maps to the close combat stuff.

If you think COD 4 was poor wait till you see this world at war ***p
Yeah i've not been impressed with what i have seen, it looks like there just repackaging the same game, i mean realease the hounds instead of the helicopter sounds stupid. The cod games havn't been the same since they moved them to console.

Also to the guy that says tf2 isnt blanced. I consider my self a good tf2 player, i feel like i can make a big differance to my team even if i'm on the losing side. Sometimes i find it just as much fun on the team with the noobs because you really have to dig in and defend for your lifes. Cod 4 the best players get the constant air strikes, chopers. So if you happen to be on the losing side or the bad team you just get totally raped by chopers, airstrikes, grenade spam. Its not blanced at all.

That doesn't really happen on 6vs6 matches in cod4, less players= less airstrikes n choppers.
So far I've been impressed with cod:waw, no nonsense just cod4 gameplay with ww2 weapons, best of both worlds :D.
I just don't find it fun in tf2 anymore dieing over and over, I enjoy it once in awhile but not more than cod4...

Has the OP tried playing cod 4 with the very popular pro mod? Improves the game tenfold in my humble opinion, much more enjoyable than vanilla cod. Also what sort of servers are you playing on? Tried any of the clan servers like dignitas, h2k, tek9, infused or fnatic TDM or S+D? Normally busy and full of skilled players, makes the game more interesting and fun.

Imo the series has went downhill (in terms of multiplayer) since cod2 came out, cod1 and uo were amazing fun.

Cod 2 had so many console elements it was stupid, a compass showing enemy positions, a crosshair that turned red if you passed over an enemy position, so much for hiding effectively. This quote off the official forums says it all about cod2.

By constrast, CoD 2 (out of the box) came with lots of noob hand-holding: messages like 'mantle here', grenade icons, red dots on compass showing enemy locations, crosshairs that turned red when passing enemies (which made hiding behind bushes pointless), and a bug that meant guns fired faster in DX7 mode than DX9 mode, making DX9 mode pointless. In addition to that, there was the 'pop-in' bushes/objects problem when going from standard to scoped view.

They included 13 maps, but 4 were remakes (and poor half-baked remakes, in my view), meaning only 9 original maps out of the box. Spawn locations were bad in most of the maps leading to extreme spawn raping (like on Moscow, Leningrad, the remakes of Brecourt and Railyard), and on the shoebox-sized maps (like Burgundy) you could practically throw nades from one spawn to the other. The only decent maps in CoD 2 (in my view) were Beltot, Caen, Toujane and Matmata - and they got old pretty fast.

The other thing about CoD 2 was that it shot modders/map makers in the foot. No http redirect out of the box, although people were constantly asking for it prior to release. Changes to the way files were packaged, and the sizes of the map files averaged 30Mb which put many people off downloading them. By contrast, there were some excellent CoD 1/UO user maps that came in under 5Mb in size - which were more user friendly, particularly for those playing on dial-up connections. There was also no PB initially (so hackers had a field-day from day one).

Yes, some of the issues were fixed, but I still see people running around shooting rifles from the hip, and bunny jumping while ADS in CoD 2. Oh...and there are many hackers (some of them openly advertising aimbots and wallhacks in the servers last time I played).

That's what I actually liked about it, I hate campers :p.
