I noticed my Raptor 74GB has 2 power connectors, a SATA and a standard one. None of my other SATA drives have this. I'm not supposed to plug into both am I? I assume not, but then i know Raptors are a bit different to normal drives, so the through crossed my mind...

your only supposed to use one or the other, I've seen a couple of other drives with both also but no idea how common it actually is?

Yea, my WD 74Gb Raptor has both, it says on the label on the HDD not to plug both in.

I think older versions had this due to the molex/sata change over.

But the OP will have to get a suitible heatsink with some Articsilver HD paste to use this overclock mode. You can also run in low power "green" mode if you disconnect all power cables.

Haha, all this might actually confuse some people

my 74gig and 150gig raptors both have 2 power connectors, sata and molex. however i use molex connectors on the drives since i use the western digital secure connect sata cable which blocks off the sata power connector.

i've had both cables pluggin in and drive still works. I use the molex as it means cleaner cabling. as said i think it was done as the drives came out when transfiring from old supplied to new ones.
