The Unofficial Fallout 3 Thread

i'm finding it difficult not to be evil as you seem to lose karma quite easily even if you steal when no one is around, plus its a good way to get weapons and health items.

Good people is harder to play - but I'm looking forward to playing as a good, survivalist type character as the game gives quite abit of space for that kind of character. You don't have to steal your way for things, raiding the baddies place, going through the metro gives a lot of stuff without kama problems.

Well I buckled and brought Fallout yesterday. After 3 hours play I'm not impressed tbh, compared to Oblivion it just doesn't seem very interesting :(

Night time is awfull, and some of the mutants are a nightmare to take down, especially the one with the rocket launcher.

I loved the way in Oblivion how as you got stronger so did the opposition yet in Fallout it seems that isn't the case and you can meet anything from a cockroach to a super mutant on your travels regardless of your level :(

Although that's what many people hated about Oblivion, the way the characters scaled with your level, as it wasn't really a challenge to take them down.

I like the fact it's a hard game, this is the aftermath of nuclear war, MAN UP.

Restarting this on 360, can't get the PC version to stop stuttering when running it through my TV. (which works fine on other games, not an fps issue either)

How do the PC graphics compare to the 360's?

Much sharper, but the real gem is how much faster the loading times are on PC.

Going from the main menu to a saved game is literally 3-4 secs (even when game has just been launched, no cache), buildings are 1-2 and instant when going in and out of smaller areas/buildings.

Yeah, the game is a pleasure on the PC, it does look way better than the console versions at true 1920x1080 ;)

As above the loading is incredible, I press continue game and I am in game in <1s (RAID 0 prob helps). Why can't all games be like that, kind of shows how inefficient a lot of games really are.

Trying to be as horrible as I can but I gave one bloke some water and now I'm neutral :(.

Murdered everyone in the vault but I guess water is just too good.

I love this game. I was addicted to Dead space, but put it down to savor it and now addicted to Fallout. I haven't built any weapons and I am working with the GNR quests. Hunting rifle at point blank is fun in V.A.T.S mode :D

I have aquired a "fat boy" nuke launcher, minigun, assault rifle's and many other guns....just struggle with ammo. I am going to put my luck skill up I think.

I have put Dead Space and Red Alert 3 on hold too, this game is so addictive, I want to keep going back for more.

Does anyone know how you can build weapons? I seem to be quite far in the game without this ability :(

You get trained at the brotherhood place (can't remember if this is called the citadel). To be honest I found that to come too late in the game as had already met the enclave.

Laser rifle / plasma rifle beat pretty much all the big guns- plenty of ammo for them too.

 Maybe its coz my 360 is new... but the only real loading ive come across is when the game loads up. After that i dont really get any.. none over 5 seconds anyway.

Hi when you say "acquired" do you mean you boguht the schematics? Or did you get the nuke launcher another way? Via the main storyline? A little clue how you got it Booner? cheers
