If you smoke stop now

Good luck with rehab; take no notice of the brave "it'll never happen to me" or " won't expect sympathy" ****s they'll die soon with any luck and we can have their oxygen etc.

Yep, I hate the stinky breath people have when they've been to the pub, or when they've vomited over themselves after having had 8 pints of wife beater.

...oh, you meant the smokers?

B.O. doesn't increase the risk of serious illness for people standing close by. Nor does bad breath, or vomit (unless you slipped on it and broke your neck).

Second-hand smoke, however...

Your in a serious risk of danger around a drunk person, more so than a smoker

I had a Heart Attack last Sunday,.

Ahhh matey, out of all the thousands of members on here you're in the collection I know as a regular.

Seriously wish you a speedy recovery, take it easy, and best of luck with the stopping smoking.

Take it easy buddy.

the thought of a business making money out of selling me drugs that would give me various diseases is enough to stop me smoking

You mean ALL THOSE WARNINGS ARE ACTUALLY REAL AND TO BE TAKEN DEADLY SERIOUSLY?!!? No way! Amazing how all the little daily excesses add up.

My flatmate has been smoking a lot recently, including some 'special' cigs as well. It stinks, makes the flat smoky, makes me feel ill and is a horrible habit.

I hate smoking passionately.

Speedy recovery mate.

My motivation to stay stopped ( 9 months now) is that i get to spend the cigy money on myself :) £140 a month (=20 a day) soon adds up :)......(strokes new rig...)

But it's a lot easier to avoid a drunkard, and therefore any danger.

Before smoking in public places and buildings was illegal, it was near impossible to avoid second-hand smoke.

I also need to stop smoking, take up excerising, stop overeating etc. but my resolve is absolutely pathetic, I really struggle these days to force myself to do anything at all, and the sad fact is I'm totally aware of it, the fact it's only going to get worse, and that even over thinking about it in this negative doom and gloom / life and death way all the time isn't going to help or encouage me to get out there and make some changes. It's just a really sad way to live life.

And now it is illegal in public places and buildings, therefore simple to avoid, and yet you are still moaning?

What burger boy said!

Truly shocked, GWS :)

It sounds daft but I read a book on how to stop smoking, its called "The Easiway to Stop Smoking" and it worked, and also for a lot of friends, its about 8 quid and well worth it,

And its never too late to give up, thats just defeatist.

Once you manage to do just one of those thigns , it will give you confidence in your willpower, what else you can do.

The first week or so are very difficult, but you won't regret it :)

I've started sorting my eating out from this week onwards too , if you can stop smoking you feel you can do most things that require willpower !

I know a lot of people who followed this book and gave up. It's not daft at all, anything is worth a shot.

To the OP: get well soon, and make the most of living your 2nd life to fullest.

before it was illegal to get drunk, it was near impossible to avoid idiots trying to start fights, or puking over your shoes, or generally being anti-social.

Oh, wait..
