What's the difference between these 260s?

I've decided on getting a 260 - I wanted to stick with Nvidia, and I was going to buy Far Cry 2 anyway, so that made that card the clincher. However, what's the difference between the 260s on overclockers? Can anyone point out a particular model I should go for? At the minute I'm looking at this one:

A) It's the cheapest and B) it says it's overclocked. But what I don't get, is if it's overclocked why is it cheaper? Shouldn't it be more expensive because you don't have to touch it straight out of the box? There's also this one that's 'core overclocked' but it's £40 more expensive.

I want the 260 that'll perform the best, not necessarily the one that will be cheapest (but the 2nd 260 would have to be quite significantly better than the 211 one to warrant a purchase). Help a nub out please, ta.

Cheers. That card has less core clock (576vs590) and less shader clock (1242x1296) but it wins on processor cores (216vs192) so I'm guessing it's the processor cores that make the bigger difference, and thus puts the price up?

Actually.. the £211 BFG 260 comes with a 10 year warranty and Far Cry 2, the one with 216 cores just comes with Brothers In Arms and 1 year warranty. Bleh. Is it really worth the 216 version with that in mind?

The main difference in price is the warranty :)

I'd go for the 216 shader version too but both should overclock to similar speeds. (You can get the BFG maxcore OC for ?218 if you look around)

There isn't a huge amount in it in most cases between the 192 and 216 versions. About 0.5fps in crysis and 3-4fps in other games.

I still highly reccomend the BFG 260 MAXCORE tho :D

Out of interest, what processor and what ammount of system memory and operating system you running, also if Vista is it 64 bit ?

For eg if you are running Vista 64 with only 2Gb memory I'd be tempted to get another 2Gb memory and then get the cheapest GTX260-192 and just clock the nads' of it

Correction, just get the BFG ;) And extra memory if required

Yeah but it's £240! But I suppose I was going to buy Far Cry 2 anyway... which would be £30.. pricing the Maxcore at roughly the same price as getting a 4870 1gig.. Can the Maxcore compete witht the 4870 in terms of 1900x1200, cause I'm playing on a 24". Which am I better off with? (btw, I've read the comparison threads to death..)

EDIT: In response the above post

E8400
4gb ddr2 1000mhz
p4 mobo
vista 64bit

You're right I do! But it would also be nice if it came with Far Cry 2 for around £215, if not, I'll just have to get a Black Edition and a 260 seperately.

I think you mean an XFX GTX 260 Black Edition, and FC 2 seperately!

:)

At the end of the day you'll have the card a lot longer than you'll be playing FC 2 for.
