Company cars rock, here's a few of the fantastic advantages that stem from having a company car:
- It accelerates at a phenomenal rate;
- It has a much shorter braking distance than your private car;
- It takes speed bumps at twice the speed of private cars;
- The battery, radiator water, oil and tyres never have to be checked;
- It can be driven up to 60 miles with the oil warning light flashing;
- It needs cleaning less often than private cars;
- The suspension is reinforced to allow for the weekend loads of bricks, concrete slabs and other building material;
- Unusual and alarming engine noises are easily eliminated by turning up the radio;
- It needs no security system and may be left anywhere, unlocked and with the keys in the ignition; and
- It has special food and drink resistant seat material unlike a private car.

My mate did exactly this. Was dropping someone at the airport when his E36 overheated. So he opened the bonnet and started poking about - cue him turning up to another mates wedding the next day with his arm bandaged!That hardly sounds like a brilliant idea either?
Mess around the engine bay with scalding hot steam pouring out of every orifice.
No thanks.![]()
It's the tempreture guage thing, it went off the last time this happened, there was still some in the expansion tank, last time the tank had completeley emptied before it went off..
As I explained above, the temperature sensors/warnings DO NOT work when you don't have any coolant.
That's the point, there was some![]()
One probably warped head plus more coming up, at least its under warrenty I guess.
Would they not say that you shouldnt have driven the car and the damage was caused by user error?
Caused by a bodged rad job in the first place, just spoke to my mate who works there, he seems to think when they changed the rad (the first week i had it I might add) they hadn't put the hoses back in correctly.

Is the entire dealership your mate or something? That must suck, they are all your friends and you still get cruddy service. Do you mean mates or 'some guy who also posts on a mini forum'?
I just hope for your sake they don't say you shouldn't have driven the car under these conditions and they aint going to pay for the fix, i'd think the dealer would be well within its rights to do this tbh depending on the damage done.
Depends if its a simple fix or not, as in put rad hose back on and fill with coolant.
Warped head / cooked Head Gasket etc no so much.
Nope, you need to fill it back with coolant drive it for a bit see if it keep overheating or if coolant starts mixing with the oil, overheating can cause serious longterm damage to an engine.
They had the car for well over an hour and a half, so surley in that time period they would have checked for that sort of thing...
And you think they looked at it straight away and didnt just sit out in the car park!?![]()
