January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

^Might not be that high for Diarra, I'm sure we sold him aka Bentley with a sell on clause hence we might pay a bit less for him should we be the party to resign him.

And aye, logic would dictate we'd be linked for lots of DM's, but I don't think we'll splash the cash or end up getting one.

nope, neither do I, i think Wenger will pussy out of spending even semi big on a decent name despite the fact that we're utterly drowning.

Lets hope his motivation speaches keep us going while we have no defence... weeks ago , "we can not afford to lose another game for the rest of the season" with some 30 games to go. WE lose one, according to his previous statements that means thats it, whats the best way to inspire confidence "we cant' possibly lose to Man Utd or its all over" , considering our form and the fact half, or maybe more than half of the first team is injured or nursing injuries expecting us with zero form and no defence to beat Man U is a bit of a joke in and of itself, to tell the players that if they lose the seasons over. THe man's gone nuts, i seriously expect he'll buy another 3 attacking midfielders aged 12-18 in January, he sticks to what he knows.

To be fair I have no idea at all who we could buy to fill the gap, Diarra is the only "spare" DM i can think of not at a top 4 club in whatever league they are in. Vieira is past it, completely, helped one of the crappest teams in the CL score 3 against Inter, Senna maybe, but looks like he'll cost a bit and due to age seems unlikely, not really sure who else is even that good let alone available.

I've also read something similar. Also, Pompey haven't paid us fully for Defoe yet and the remaining payment is due so was written somewhere that the rule wouldn't apply if this was the case and we were able to get him back because Portsmouth couldn't pay his full fee.

All paper talk though so not sure what truth is in it. Apparently also, Harry wants Crouch, Distin and Diarra to complete his new looks Spurs side.

I thought the problem was that a player can't be transferred to the club he was sold from, within twelve months?

It's not the best source in the world - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...boss-bring-Pompeys-Defoe-White-Hart-Lane.html

I seem to remember reading that there's a big sell-on clause for Diarra, something like 50% of any profit. So if he went for £10m, Arsenal would receive £2.5m

Rumours abound that it was a £1m bid from Newcastle.

I love bates comment:
"I'm still amazed at a recent offer Newcastle made for Fabian," he told Yorkshire Radio. "I won't tell you the content of the fax we sent back but it did end the conversation." <-- I would love to know what he sent back :D

on a side note as a Leeds supporter:

opinions? personally I REALLY hope Harte gets back into Leeds properly (rather than just training with them) he used to be my favourite player back in the day

I think what we've currently got is better than what Harte can offer, although his experience could be vital and his free kick ability he was never a good defender, where as Sheehan, Parker and White are.

Nice to see him back though, will be great backup if we sign him and he was one of my fave's a few years back.

I'd hate for Harte to sign. He was slow when he was younger and he's gonna be a lot slower now. He couldn't defend and he went downhill in the last couple of seasons because when the Premier League balls changed he could no longer score free kicks. In short, he's worthless and useless like he was for his last two seasons with us.

The Owen to Chelsea rumour is doing the rounds again and as I've always said I'd love a fit Michael Owen at Chelsea. If that's what we get then he's just what the squad needs, a proper goalscorer:)

Don't think Pompey are in any sort of position to buy anyone. When Redknapp left for Spurs he admitted that Pompey have to sell in January.

He was interviewed by the BBC at half time who were asking him what he was doing there. His response was watching Delph.

Any club would love a fit Owen without question - but unfortunately its still a massive IF wouldnt you say

Wasnt there a quote saying about 12 EPL clubs are after him (dont get me wrong Chelsea can probably outbid most of them without thinking - Man City may be the only club capable of really fighting all the way in a biding war, not that MO would chose City I would have thought)

Agreed - a lot of sites (quoting un-named Utd sources -yeah right) are saying Utd have signed Delph for £5m, with signatures being done in Jan - but dont believe any of them before I see the kid in/with an AIG shirt standing with Gill/SAF
